Wow, I'm impressed by these collections! I should take pics of mine sometime... I have every single handbag I've ever owned starting with gifts I received as a teenager in the late 70's. Many of those are back in right now. I inherited my mother and my grandmother's love of handbags obviously!

The first purse I spent some serious money on was a Gucci in about 1985. Everybody had them -- I don't even know what style it's called. Satchel, maybe? Blue with the blue stripes with red in the middle and two handles. Also bought a matching wallet and keychain holder at the time.

After that it was maybe a new LV each year and I went on a Coach kick and later a Dooney and Bourke kick. I used to spend every single cent I had on a new purse!

My grandmother went to an assisted living home this summer and she gave me all her handbags. She used to travel to Europe all the time and bought her bags in France and Italy. I haven't even started looking through them! She also has 12 pieces of vintage LV in absolutely PERFECT condition and unfortunately, they are going to my cousin and not me. I was hoping my cousin would sell them to me but she won't. Darn her!

My daughter just turned 14 and already has a great collection started. She's getting a Dooney backpack purse for Christmas (to use while riding her scooter).

Now that I live in the country in Iowa, I don't use my bags like I used to. Kinda feel out of the loop a bit!

dgie, if you don't mind asking, how much was your hermes birkin? what size is it, and was it difficult to aquire? i am interested in a 35mm black with gold hardware. i am looking for this sort of typical, generic black leather (i don't know what it's officially called. it's sort of grainy/texturized?)

I don't have any designer handbags... i'm just 16, and my parents would never spend so much money in a bag. But I have about 15 bags from argentine brands and some that used to be from my mom.

Here are my favourites: but i could not find this great clutch i have (as you can see i'm not organised with my bags, i just have them lying around my room... i need a place to put them all together!)

Wow! Everyone's collections are amazing. I'm a university student so until I have the career to support my love of designer handbags I make do! I have from LV a Damier Papillon 26, a Mini Monogram Cerise Noelie, and a brand new Epi Mandarin Speedy 30! I just received it from my boyfriend for my birthday. From Chanel I have a small flap bag and from Gucci I just have the belted waist pouch.

Then I have a few LV accessories and that's it!
