I never thought I'd be posting in the Muse thread but here I am! My sister is visiting and took me shopping in Boston for an early birthday gift. The Muse did nothing for me in pics, but after seeing the large chocolate in NM IRL, it was . My awesome sis bought it for me, and it is the perfect size. I'm about 5'2", 114 lbs, and the oversize looked ridiculous on me. Lots of petite women can pull off the oversize and look great but for me, the large was plenty big.

i agree with trying it and walking around the store a bit with it to get a feeling for the size. i also agree that the huge size is totally part of its appeal. i dont think dimensions really matter, its all about personal style and whether you can pull it off, imo.

the distressed patent sounds interesting, guccigal. any more info on it?

btw, i was at pastis in nyc on sunday and saw about 6 women with different size muses, bronze seems to be popular.

Part of the appeal of the YSL muse bag is they play up their ENORMOUS-SIZE factor, and it drives the women wild. With such a subdued bag, with minimal flashy quirks to it, a gigantic size makes it "BAM!!".

At the same time, you do NOT want a bag that is so large it dwarfs you and looks awkward, not to mention hard to carry or place when you're out in public.

I am 5'7'' and 125, I am very thin, and fairly tall, and when I tried on the Large muse in the boutique, it was indeed very large. In fact, I liked it because it was so GIGANTIC, it was larger than normal bags and drew attention. Any larger and it would have probably dwarfed me.

You are 5'1'' and about 90 pounds... honestly speaking, the oversize will be just TREMENDOUS on you, it will look like luggage, and it will NOT be an everyday bag, perhaps not even a weekly bag.

Next to me was a woman about my height, she was of "average/healthy" build, (maybe wears a size 6 or 8 in clothing?) and she was trying on the Large as well- and it too was a nice, large size on her. Perfect.

My best friend is your size, she's 5'1 and 95 pounds, rail thin, and all my bags look huge on her.

I suggest trying on th bags in person, if you REALLLLLLY want the Large or Oversize. The medium would be GORGEOUS on you. In fact, I myself want a Dark Brown Medium for everyday use. (And a Large white for about 3-4 times a week usage)

IA about what you are saying with regards to size. It's really important to try them on if at all possible. I had my heart set on a large tan, but when I actually went to the store the medium was much better on me. I am 5'6" and about 106 pounds, so the large or oversize would have been big on me, IMO. I ended up with a chocolate bronze colored one that I so love!

I think the patent would look great in the smaller sizes however I think the larger is great. I think its a statement bag...or you have to have the style to do it. I really love them.....but I still love the idea of the red and now I love the OAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and I was just thinking they really got it wrong...the oak should have been made for the spring and chocolate for fall.....

sexxxxxy!!! you rock!!! Neat pics. I like the original leather over the distressed patent, and would prefer to purchase the original leather, but perhaps the shiny patent will grow on me.

Whew, the authentic muses have saggy edges/corners at the base as well. When they're brand new, they're very sharp and firm, and I thought they'd always retain that shape. Hence, when I saw some Muses selling online without that sharp corner, I automatically assumed they were fake. I guess the Muse has good, soft, plushy leather that gives and relaxes over time.

For all you muse owners, any updated pics with your Muse? Did the leather change shape? I saw Sienna's white Muse looked somewhat "crushed"...

gucci, thanks so much for sharing pics of the new colors! i absolutely love the oak and am thinking how the black patent will look in person too.

i got a chocolate muse!!! but now that i've seen the oak and how nice the patent is, i think i will return it and wait to see fall colors to be certain....the chocolate is soooo yummy, but i don't want to regret my choice, right?!!

silk - i really agree w/ guccigal about trying on for yourself. i'm 5'4" and 93 pounds and the XL looks way better on me than any other size. so if you are a big bag gal, go for it. the xl looks rockin'.

posi! where did you get the chocolate? well why don't you set it out (of course take out a little stuffing) and see if you fall in love with it.

Also the oak is preorder at saks.com for september.....and put in shopmay for 10% off! I did that for the oak and red already.

however I am not 100% sure the chocolate will be for sale in the fall so....make sure you really want the oak first.

YSL Houston is the first trunk show for YSL in the USA so find it out when it is in NYC...you live in NY right? I has to be in a few weeks...so see the bag in person hopefully they will have it there!!!

But how long do you have to return it?

I still love the chocolate so if you keep you aren't doing so bad! Maybe get the black XL and then the oak

Oh boy......I was going to order a red medium but now that I see the oak, I'm not sure which color to go for. Red or Oak? I already have a white oversize.

well, fashion is an ongoing dialogue, and i think you'd be hard pressed to find one person who is not influenced in her choices by any person or thing-- that person would probably be quite boring. btw, there are worse people to copy than kate moss. (sienna miller or britney spears for instance. )

i digress. gucci, i bought it at the madison boutique so i only have 10 days to change my mind. i freakin' love my new s.a. he's crazy!!!! yeah, his lookbook was MIA, so i didn't get to see the oak, etc.....don't you think i should wait to see all colors before committing to chocolate?

Posi...best idea ever....buy it from neimans.com they are in stock. return at YSL you have like 10 years to return it or something.....so maybe buy it at neimans and hold onto it until you decide.....and then you have longer....

but the trunk show is coming up in NYC in the next few weeks so maybe you can see it in real life!

just tell your SA you want to wait for the oak...even if you get it somewhere else...
