Daria is not good enough for YSL... sorry...

.. i think her face suits italian fashion houses ...not a very french ones with a rich heritage, as YSL

YSL mens fw05 ad :flower:

No one cares about the history.

The question people wonder about most in the dressing room, besides the price, is if their *** looks good in it.

No one cares about *french chic* and *Malheursement* and *lucie de la whatever*. It's 2005, thank the gods, and we're still here...to wish it were Pre 1980s? Maybe it's because that was before my time...

And why the name change? Duh--there's no couture house anymore, no need for pairing down, simplification, the shower or the bath. Now it's just one choice that, luckily, recognizes the original customers don't carry enough weight to keep fashion anachronistic...*malheursement*. Gotta keep it movin'...

Does anyone else think her head looks wierd in them?

i prefer Karen

i agree...... karen has more spunk and she really captured the grandeur of paris with a white background, ginger hair and alabaster skin...

Note: Blurring pictures in purpose is NOT an artistic statement. I repeat, Blurring pictures in purpose is NOT an artistic statement.

lol you are so funny........ well sorry i dont agree =)

i think the blur effect is an homage to an old ysl pic back in the 60's ... i forget the name of the photographer..showing the same style of the wool jacket

Daria and the male model make an elegant pair -- as much as I've adored this series of a lone YSL-clad figure I'd like to see the 2 of them in a shot together. <g>

I'm still loving this series. The men's ads are just as captivating. He's such a dandy but he sports it so well. Baggy velvet pants, coiffed hair -- if he was a girl, he'd be downright sassy -- but mostly I love how easy it is to focus on the clothes. The textures just keep me reeling me in.

it reminds me of the old day ads. -70's & 80's- when the fashion houses used to take photos of thier collections in parisian streets around them.

i liked the relaxed & natural attitude in photos setting, such as the damaged fence.

love it very french very YSL, glad to see YSL back to its roots. :)

There is nothing new under the sun. I don't like the pics...the lights are a little too distracting to me. I had to stare as the photo in my mags to see what she was wearing...that's just too much work for my eyes.

point views....for me it is still the most distinguished & different this season:rolleyes:

You have the best reply I have ever read on this site ! and on Ysl !

The ads are technically perfect. That does not mean that I like them, but they are creative and she sells the product- not as wells as Karen, Kate, or even Sophie's Opium ads, but she sells them to the target audience, an ageless Parisian woman, from work to party without looking like the crazy youngster or the old widow.

But i think Daria looks like a squirrel anyways, but I do like some of her work, and her walk is Amazing!...

Love the photographic concept - love the line....not all excited about the model though...either of them.

to be honest,
I think Karen for YSL is more suitable than Daria...

also, I don't think YSL is Daria's style...:ermm:

what i liked in this ad. that it is not seeking perfection, it is so spontinous.. no pretented still movements, overdone hair or make up & the background ..it is Paris as it is with its streets, magnolias & green damaged fences.

& about the clothes ...they don't have to be very clear, since they've been well known since last March -as it is with all YSL shows-.... so i would call it an 'Impressionest ad.'
