Emily Blunt On Her YSL Opium Campaign: ‘It Was A Terrible Mistake’
Emily Blunt may have snagged one off fashion’s most iconic campaigns, but the contract certainly hasn’t gone to her head.
When asked why she was chosen as the face of YSL’s Opium fragrance — an honor once held by Linda Evangelista — Blunt told The Telegraph:
‘I don’t know. I’ve no idea,’ she says, wheezing with laughter. ‘There was no one else? They made a mistake, a terrible mistake.
The ad, which she describes as focusing on a “woman, on a mission – in really high heels”, also features a live leopard, who had a surprising influence on Blunt’s outfit.
She says she suggested wearing a dress in the advert rather than the classic Yves Saint Laurent tux. ‘But I got word back, ’ she continues in a perfect French accent, ‘that the leopard trainer says, “If you have flowing fabric around the leopard the leopard will go crazy .” So I said yes to the tux. ’
