“Maria Callas performing in Argentina,” peppered with a bit of Martha Graham, is how Zac Posen described his pre-fall collection. The inspirations could have easily swung overly theatrical, but except for a few billowing sleeves, Posen demonstrated control. The designer continued to build on his evening assortment with bias-cut dresses, cocktail frocks and the kind of sculpted gowns he is known for, like the body-hugging floor-length satin number that he layered with Chantilly-embroidered black lace. Posen also stepped up his daywear with a structured leather suit and a chic navy double-faced wool suit with a high mink collar.

He has proven once again that he is a one-dimensional designer. Collection after collection and the same, tired, mermaid silhouette.

same old

borning as hell, i actually think they are getting uglier as the seasons pass

Like, WHY EVEN BOTHER. Everyone and their mother has seen everyone of those looks from him ever season for the last who knows how many seasons. Does this sell? It hurts just to look at it every season.

Agree, I think some of those gowns girls would kill to have. But from a fashion perspective, it's just old hat. And what is with that face the one black model is giving?:lol:

"Maria Callas going to Argentina" is the précis Zac Posen gave his pre-fall collection. He's never been one to shy away from drama, and the dresses and gowns in this lineup delivered on his reputation. Whether he cut them in duchesse satin or silk faille ottoman jacquard, they were intricately constructed. The best of them—we're thinking specifically about a strapless aubergine style with a bow detail at the bust—did wondrous things for the models' forms: instant hourglass. Posen used the words anatomical and architectural to describe the season. He approaches his designs almost like an architect would, adding fiber optics to organza and tulle, for example, so that the lightweight fabrics hold their extravagant volumes.

But every night isn't a night at the opera. Clingy knit dresses delivered some of the same va-va-voom in a more approachable, everyday material, and he used black leather for the first time for a skirtsuit. It didn't look quite as utilitarian as he indicated, but it did have an edge that felt new for him.

VogueDisciple93, you read my mind.

Maria Callas is such a great theme and, for me, he doesn't explore this at all.
The hair and makeup is gorgeous.
