I'm new to H&M, Zara, River Island, Mango etc as in Aussieland we don't have them (exception- Mango: i've only popped in a few times).

I'm not a fan of H&M. I just think most things are overpriced for the quality etc.

I think Zara has really great stuff. I love their shoes but i'm yet to buy a pair because all the ones i happen to look at seem to have some kind of 'defect.' Most of them don't balance properly because they're uneven or a bit of the shoe is a little 'deformed.' I'm a little anal about this stuff...
I did buy a really nice pencil skirt from Zara recently that only cost me about 25 euros but it's yet to go through the wash.
River Island stuff is shyte but i'm not sure what kind of store it is really...some of their shoes are nice.
and I don't really like Mango very much- fabrics used, etc.
Can't wait to go to London and check out TopShop. My friend came back raving about it!

If you buy from Zara you better learn how to sew buttons back on cause everything I have ever purchased from them the buttons have fallen off!

yes.. their buttons need re-inforcement
but i havent got quality issues with my Zara items and i really love how there is always something new everytime i step in the store

as for Zara shoes, i got five pairs, usually get at least two each season
my big Zara weakness is their leather bags and my advice

when in Zara always go for their more 'expensive' items, they hold better and they are usually 'limited edition'
just avoid the very-very cheap items, they are 'too expensive' for what they are, wont last long, will peel etc

Zara Home, i really adore

in general i admire Inditex's marketing strategy

i agree lena...
their shoes and accessories are great...
i also end up buying at least 4 pairs of shoes a year...

their suiting for women is also fabulous, better in tailoring/quality than express, and more stylish and fashion forward than banana republic...
it's sort of inbetween banana and j.crew (which is great quality, but a tad expensive, especially if you don't have to wear suits constantly)...
i got a great navy velvet tuxedo jacket with satin trim from the limited edition line that i love...

i also think the way they stores are designed is great...
more like an "upscale" retailer, as whitelinen said...
i hate going into h&m mainly because it's always crowded, merchandise is not folded or is falling onto the floor, and it's so loud...
it reminds me of abercrombie...:ninja:

we don't have zara home...what's that like?

this conversation is kind of funny because when in NY last week I bought the most beautiful jacket from Zara and when I went to wear it out that night my mom had to pull out the hotel sewing kit and reinforce the buttons for me, and considering I had conned her into buying me the jacket, she goes, "how can anyone charge $200 for something that has buttons popping off?!"

but I swear, the rest of the jacket is really gorgeous and well made :p It's my favorite fall item.

When I lived in Paris I used to go on Zara hunts, visiting as many different stores as possible since not only do you find something new every time you go into a store, but every store you go into has different merchandise. In Paris at least they really gear the stores to the arrondissement and clientele of the area, so even though there is a Zara on every other block you feel excited to discover new things instead of like it's overkill.

I hate returning things to stores. It just causes me a lot of anxiety. I've had to return items to Zara twice in the past couple of years and each time they are really nice about it. This makes me want to keep going back, which I have and have bought tons of things I've kept! I probably wouldn't go there so much if their customer service weren't so good. I've been to the stores in Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., SF, and NY and I've gotten good service at all of them.

funny you should say that *spinster* because my friend is really annoyed at Zara (in Amsterdam) because they refuse to refund her shirt she bought.

I feel like such a cow lol after badmouthing MANGO because it I got a great outfit from there today at the last minute that i needed. The staff weren't very friendly but that's what you get when you walk in dressed like a bum.
so this is my formal apology to Mango- sorry for being so judgmental. Luv, justlooking. :)

I like Zara's menswear. I always seem to come out of the store carrying a shopping bag with a jacket in it. It's nothing superchic, but I'm a pretty no-frills guy anyway.

I love Zara...sometimes they confuse me with there sizes, but I always find something in there

i just got this pretty zara silk satin mini dress, i LOVE it! it's sooo soft and i felt kinda sexy but still rockin' in this.
it's not too girlie, but it's a girl thing.
i took this pic to show my cabas bag, so don't mind the pose and the bag :p

and i alo also LOVE the skinny jeans. although the size is ridiculoous, i wore 26 levi's and i'm wearing 34 zara LOL

i can't see the pic :-(
but, I just bought a jeans size 36, and i just to buy 38...sometimes they are a bit smaller and sometimes true to size, I just love that they have long pants, i'm 5'11 ;-)

i discovered Zara recently on a trip to Hong Kong and i found the clothes to have weird sizing as well!!
I was the smallest size in everything and even then it was sometimes too big (i'm not tiny either, about 5'9").
This was especially surprising as i was in hong kong so i presumed the majority of people who live there would be smaller than me.
Other than that, i thought their stuff was really nice and cheap!

 Zara has got no service at all
They won't even get the item from another store, the most they will do is call and ask whether it is available or not

the nearest zara for me is in miami & i doubt i'll make the five hour trip just to shop there, but while im in europe this summer i see they have a lot of stores. i'm excited to shop there!

just been to zara yesterday (always end up buying something at least once a week:ninja: dont tell anyone:innocent: )
and they have great stuff for the summer.
i am always a fan of quality so anything 100% cotton (lots of really lightweight cotton dresses)
and the 100%silk or silk/cotton jumpers... those are unbeatable!

It's too bad there isn't an online store, because some of the pieces are very cute.

I wonder, could you call a store & tell them you want a particular piece you saw on the collection online & have them ship it to you? I'm in love with a particular dress.
