Resurrecting the dead...I mean thread

Lya Mara...born in the Russian Empire (now Latvia) in 1897. Starred in many German movies through the late teens to twenties. Married director Frederic Zelnik in 1918. After his death in 1950, she retired from the movie business and her fate is unknown.

Fern Andra....Fern Andra's show-business career started as an aerialist with a troupe that toured the U.S. and Europe. In Vienna she became a student of famed director/teacher Max Reinhardt and appeared in several of his plays and films. She soon settled in Berlin, where she starred in several productions for UFA Studios, some of which she also produced and directed. She also appeared in British and French films. In the sound era she returned to the United States, but after making only two films, she retired.

Her last movie was in 1930, so I thought it would be best to put her in here huh: although her postcards seem to have been published in the early 30's). The 'aerial' shot is from 1917.

Lya de Putti....Daughter of a Hungarian Baron and Countess she went on to perform classical ballet in berlin after a breif stint in Hungarian Vaudeville. She later made several films at the German UFA Studios most notably VARIETY (1925), before going to Hollywood in 1926. While in America she starred in several movies, mostly in vamp roles. She died in 1931 (at age 32), from pneumonia, following an operation to remove a chicken bone from her esophagus.
