I LOVE this style but whenever I dress in it I always feel so costumy, like I'm trying too hard. But I love seeing other go all out in it. A former classmate of mine used to do it daily, down to the make-up and everything and she always looked so beautiful.

Though I could see myself go for the Marc Jacobs second picture interpretation of it, It feels a bit more dressed down.

Thanks for posting!

I absolutely love the style!
I am so tempted to throw a pair gloves and a pillbox hat to my usual mix!
Thank you for sharing.

The red/yellow flower thing looks interesting. :)

(Though it's not exactly daily wear...)

Ok is there a big differences between 40's and 50's?
I read Proenza Schouler was inspired by the 40's then people putting PS and Prada in the same bag and here Prada is said to be 50's inspired ^_^

I'm really loving this trend, I would have loved the menswear to go down the same path, james dean/west side story/grease style, though band of outsiders has used that for their show in june 2011. (btw, (random question) does anyone know the details of mens shirts back then (of the james dean/west side story style)? (cuffs, collars, etc...)

I also found this thread which is amazing, love looking at old pictures!!

Despite being fan of 50's trend, these two Prada outfits seem hideous to me. But Jil Sander outfits look niiice
