Woman Wearing Glasses Without Sides
Original caption: 10/31/1960-New York, NY-: Real eye-openers, these new eyeglass frames seem to defy gravity by staying in place without the usual side bars that cling to the head or hook on the ears. Called Cling by Kono Manufacturing Company, the frames are held on securely by soft comb-like projections that slip gently into the folds of the eyelid. They are designed to open a new field of fashion to eyeglass-wearing women by eliminating the old temple pieces and their interference with head-hugging hats or closely coiffed hairstyles.
