2010 Grammy Awards

That MJ Tribute was embarassement I'm sorry.MJ is not about earth song,MJ is about dance.I love Earth song but if they wanted to pay tribute to him, they should have done a dance number.

But since we all know that a good dance tribute can't be done, without Chris Brown or Janet .... they chooose to stick with slow MJ songs, that don't represente him at all.Because they're snubbing the guy.I'm saying this and I'm not even a Chris fan and I just think theyshould let him pay tribute to MJ.We all know,he'll do the job just perfectly.

This tribute was not good,no emotion,no energy (except for Usher) What a shame and a waste.MJ's kid were precious though :heart::heart:
I agree. They maybe could have substituted Justin for Chris.

^ I don't think it's fair to say it's 'very rare' eccentricity....it really depends on the individual artist and actually i think it has a lot to with genre too.... in the last few yrs there have been a lot more artists who are singer/songwriters.....i don't think there's anything wrong with not writing your own songs...it's not everyone's gift....but i do think it is becoming more and more of an expectation, especially in certain genres where most artists do write or co-write their own material...

I love mary j blige....every time i see her perform on one of these shows i am blown away by how much passion and soul she puts into her performances. she is one of the few singers who i can watch live and really feel and see the emotion.

In all Honesty the grammy's is about popularity more then it is about music. Let's face it very few of the song's that are being nominated are really any good.

Yeah maybe Justin, but after seeing Chris's Thriller Tribute to MJ (that he did on tour I think) he's the only artist that comes to my mind when those tributes happen. But Justin would be great too ^_^

And by the way,do they give Grammy during the commercial break ?? There's way too much performances. It's like one perfomance and then 5 minutes of commercials. One performance and 5 minutes commercial break .... that's weird !

I agree that there is more pressure for artists to write their own songs but some artists *cough BEYONCE* just add their name to songs that they don't even write just so they get credit for it. It is well well known within the industry that she doesn't write all her songs and demands that she gets publishing from it anyways (which isn't totally a bad thing b/c for new and/or old songwriters its great to be on a song with Bey b/c that means a huge check b/c she's pretty much guaranteed to go platinum several times over)

^ I know that Beyonce took credits for 2 songs that she didn't write,If I Were A Boy and Smash Into You.Did she did that for other songs ? I was wondering ...

That dude's speech is so hypocrite, the creativity, the future of music blahblahblah. Yeah, cuz so much creativity is shown in the grammys, they only nominate mainstream bands, and sadly the most creative music is listened to in the indie charts.

Ok, I know JLo has an incredible body but that dress just doesn't do it justice. It makes her look lumpy (for lack of a better word).

edit: Beyonce thanking her husband..awww! It's so weird for them to be so...out there and public with their relationship. I know everyone knows they're married now but rarely do they directly thank each other during acceptance speeches. It was cute. And that short silver dress she has on is nice.

yawn^ JLO... no. FAIL!

Beyonce didnt "take credit" for writing "Smash Into You" and BC Jean's "If i were a boy" she had re-arranged the vocal and the production so was given credit,

she has writen a pantheon of hits, Check on It, Baby Boy, Survivor, Indepedent Woman, etc

Oh my wold. Does Beyonce ever lose at the Grammys? Not only does she get nominated for everything she ever does, but she seems to win 90% of the time too. Ugh.

She only changed "Smack Into You" into "Smash into you" The rest of the song is the same. She stole that song.Same thing for IIWAB.But anyway,I still love her but you know ...:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Thank you guys for posting those hilarious red carpet fails earlier in the thread. They made my night.

well thats a naive comment to make

its very rare that singer actually write their own songs... yes lady gaga does, so does beyonce sometimes, mariah carey, pink.... but artist usually work with producers and writers who write hits for them... britney has past her prime yes but the quality of her music is in the same calibre of the gagas and the perry's... the execution and visual delivery is just atrocious thats all

personally, singers should write their own songs but yes it is somewhat rare that its additional recognition when an artist actually does it. and as an artist is writing songs not part of being an artist along with performance, image, and singing that reflect that individual.

look at beyonce, she wrote her songs on destiny's child and so did pink(im not sure if she still does). its unfortunate that the formula for success in music has diminished the intimacy of being an artist.

watching the grammy's memoriam presentation i wonder if these songs were written by these artists because music is just not the same anymore(in quality).
