50 Book Challenge for 2011

Starting off this year with 1. Indelible by Karin Slaughter. My friend says it's really good!

i started this year wanting to finish The grapes of wrath by John Steinbeck (i'm on page 177 of 476, so i hope this book counts)

i'm still reading The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood. I have 110 pages to go, i hope this still counts? if not i'll start counting with the next book i'll read ^_^

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.

Been trying to start it for a looooong time now. -_-

Last year, I read 22 books altogether.

If I really loathe a book, I'll still finish it just so that way I can write my review on amazon or elsewhere to warn people "this author is overrated! here's why!" (That honour last year belonged to "The Time Traveler's Wife.")

Anyway, I tend to read around a dozen books at one time (but it takes forever to read them all), but the 3 I've been working on currently:

*Mistress Pat by L. M. Montgomery
*The Haunted Man by Charles Dickens
*Short Fiction of Sarah Orne Jewett and Mary Wilkins Freeman

I'm still reading Blonde by Joyce Carol Oates. I've read 250 pages last year. Now, I still have 750 pages to go.

ugh i gotta agree, so over-rated:sick:
do you have an account on goodreads.com? great site to rate, review and keep track of your book:flower:

I'm in! I read one in two days at the end of december 2010, can I count it?

At the moment I'm tackling Frank Schätzing's "Limit" (1100+ pages) :muscles:

am i late? i'd love to join =) 50 books, that sure is a challenge. right now i'm reading the grapes of wrath. but i just ordered the heart is a lonely hunter and water for elephants. also, i have plenty of school literature to read :P

I just realised this sentence is a little confusing... What I meant was, I just read a book ("Imperial Bedrooms" by Bret Easton Ellis) last week. Can I include it in the challenge? ;)

^ we had a Few extra days from past Year, so i think, Yes you can Count it

01. The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan

I'm starting with this fiction book. It's geared more toward the younger demographic (not that I'm old o.O; ), but I love his books.

Congratulations to those who have finished a book already! I have yet to crack mine open.

Thanks to Belowen for making a separate post for our Book Reviews.
I almost missed seeing it so remember it's there. I just wrote mine out.

 Good luck everyone!

I loved The Time Traveler's Wife. It's so unusual to find anything new and original in fiction, and I think that book really is. Totally worth reading.

I'll do this ... right now I'm reading Eckhart Tolle's Practicing the Power of Now, and House Beautiful's The Home Book.

What if a book in split into two books, eg. War and Peace, does that then count as one or two books if both books are over 100 pages?

I think each person should make his/her own rules, and if s/he feels compelled, state what they are ;) I, for example, am counting the books I've started, and any Eckhart Tolle counts as a book, I'm not checking the page count ;)
