A. P. C.

Interested in getting the 70s peacoat from their online website. Are their sizes accurate? IE, if i'm a 4, should I get the size they recommend or go up a size since it's going to be a coat. I guess what I'm asking is, for their coats, do they take into consideration that the wearer is going to layer?

Well, not this time. "This is finally it!" I said to myself and went down to my favourite shop and took it home with me for $560. I've not used it yet as it hasn't really been that cold in Denmark yet but just when I was rearranging my closet earlier today I found a minor flaw on the jacket and the stitching in some areas was not done quite well, especially on the removable fur lining.

I'm quite disappointed with the quality and I can't believe A.P.C. being this "casual" on a $560 piece . The jacket seems quite fragile and I don't think it will hold for more than a season or two. However, maybe I'm too judgemental because how can I be sure when I've not used it yet? But then again, if I take it in use I'm not entitled to deliver it back...It's a dilemma.

Do some of you have any experience with this particular parka and have you had issues with it during your ownership?"

Sorry that i can not comment on this parka, but i have owned many apc pieces including some outwear and do sometimes find stray threads or puckering or think the fabric a bit delicate, but they always wear really well. most things are made in developing countries so I don't think the quality is top notch, but for me, for the price, the classic styles and fit (apc usually looks good on me) are hard to find.

I delivered the parka back to the store yesterday and got my money back. I think I'll try their take on the classic duffle coat (the zipper is a nice detail). It's made of heavy wool and costs a tiny bit more than their cotton parka....or maybe just wait until it goes on sale? I still have a wool coat and a trench to wear this A/W.

But yeah, you're absolutely right. It's hard to find anything looking as cool, classic and stylish as APC's simple designs. That's why I simply love their outerwear (and jeans) - it's no nonsense yet classic and stylish. However, like you said, I reckon you pay for the look and fit, not the craftsmanship and fabric.

I hope you also pay for the fabric...seeing as I just bought a 100% Italian merino sweater with the hopes it will last...

Do not worry. I'm sure it will last if you take care of it, just like all wool materials. I just didn't feel $560 was well spent on that particular parka coat.

If that's true, it's a shame. I haven't bought anything from APC the last season or two but the quality, design, and materials all used to be equally good. There's no reason for it to be anything less.

Does a.p.c. Generally fit smaller or larger than standard north American sizing? Or is it true to size? I haven't bought any but with the sales I was thinking of trying out a few pieces. Thanks for any feedback you can give :flower:

^ In my experience, if you compare the sizes with Gap, the A.P.C. Small is a 'real' Small whereas Gap's Small could pass for a Medium. In short, it fits a bit smaller.

Sorry just two more APC questions: 1) if I am a 6 in pants normally would people recommend I order a 8? 2) does the Madras line fit like the major line?

Thanks!!

Just bought these, first day of sales in Belgium :-)

I thought so too but I wish I had bought them in black instead (the black was sold out in my size). At first I thought they were so wearable, but now I'm a bit stumped.

Sales begin wednesday 12th in France, so will online sales on APC european site.

Cicciolina: I would wear these with slim denims slightly rolled up or tailored grey trousers. I think they'd be perfect for Spring too with a striped t-shirt dress and a trench.

Haha!

I just got the mens navy parka coat (M) for just €200 and bought the 80's wool mac (M) for €220. So that's two coats for the price of one! For once my patience paid off! Maybe I should take a pair of boots too..? In black you say? Click-ity clack click!

Where did you buy that parka? (you need to credit your pictures too) I want that one in XS, but it's already sold out at the A.P.C. store in Antwerp and the A.P.C. online store!

Actually, I bought a size S and M just to be sure. The XS in red and navy have been sold out for a couple of months. Last time I checked there were S,M,L and XL left in stock in navy. All sizes in the red are sold out.

But check the site frequently as they tend to update it quite often. However, as I wrote earlier, the XS in red and navy have been sold out for months.

Regarding the pictures. Yeah, I was so ecstatic that I forgot to credit the pictures but I've contacted the administrator as I can't edit it any more.
