i really like kate and still do, when i first saw her i was like

like many cause she was the complete opposite to a glamazon but i got it and her. her rise to the top and her high status still in the industry makes sense to me. she is still very distinctive looking as long as she has no competition she will be around....as soon as we hear a new model is "the new kate" then she has to worry, the closest to kate was jodie kidd but kate was still superior and had more personality in her face. jodie didn't last kate did.
she had such a beautiful, innocent and fresh face that it didn't matter what her body was like and of course she was allowed to break one of the basic rules of becoming a model and that was her height. in the early days her skinniness was really highlighted and you could say exploited especially by calvin klein in that dodgy obsession ad where she is naked on a couch, she is made to look under age showing her waif naked body like a pre pubesent girl or even boy. it was irresponsible we all know this is a shallow industry always judging on looks, not many think about the meaning or the message. like that D&G ad with the male model holding a female model to the floor while other models look on wtf!!?? wrong! wrong! it may look good to D&G but what is the message? it can look like they are about to r*pe her. designers need to use their minds not just their eyes!! think please!
anyway back to kate....she did fill out and she suited many looks she was versatile and adapted well. the anti-supermodel that became a supermodel and a celebrity. the glamazon didn't disappear when the waif and grunge era came about cause glamour made a comeback and it was triggered when nadja went platinum, she became the most in demand supermodel. nadja was curvy and stauesque the opposite to kate but in the mid 90s there was room for both. kate may need more photoshop nowadays but its all good
didn't nadja set a new record in 1994 or was it in 1995? a record for having 4 international vogue covers for the same month? i think it was US, UK, Italia and French or was it German editions?? any nadja experts out there that can verify this? thanks!
i loved the fact in the mid 90s you had the top designers like gianni's and karls runway shows with the ol skool supermodels linda, naomi and helena, walking along side the newer girls like kate, shalom and amber. they embraced a wide variety of girls with different body shapes.
