A Tribute to the 90s Supermodels

does anyone know yasmeen ghauri's measurements? it seemed she had the tiniest waist!

This month´s UK Elle magazine has Stephanie Seymour on the cover and an interview inside, and now i came across this tread and found it so funny! ^_^

Coming across these pictures is really funny also because those were the first models i knew the names and recognized, and that is also what is allways said about them, they were called SuperModels precisly because of this, because they made the models become the stars they are today.
Recognizing models and thinking of them as stars is as recent as those girls are.
Of course we had models like Twiggy before all that, but those girls made a HUGE impact at their time, and they were several instead of one. :)

Seeing those pictures makes me think that the beauty back then was more classical and the kind of beauty no one can denies. Models like some of the ones we see today are more likely to be considered "ugly" or beautiful than the Supermodels. :flower:

She looks just fabulous!!! ;)

Although she has a more mature face now (no wrinkles though) obviously, she looks just about the same and still very beautiful. :flower:

Actually, Twiggy and Jean Shrimpton had enormous impact on the society they lived in. They changed the ideal of beauty from glamazon style Sophia Loren to thin arty dream girls. They were huge stars...but they couldn't have exactly the same impact because they seldom appeared on tv, commercials were in their infancy and hey, not even internet back in 1966-1970! And of course, most people here don't remember what impact they had unless you've done research.

Thanks for pointing that! :)
You are right, unless there is some research done, people don´t know the impact that hey made. I actually didn´t know that. ;)

didnt karen have some problems, with depression, eating, mental disturbances?

anyway, i dont necessarily think that certain people on here are "clinging" to the old models (or maybe they are) but there is no denying that the models of the 80s/90s had so much of an impact, way more than todays models do and ever will.

Who Knew, Karen Mulder was a mess back then,

I love Linda E in particular because she's exciting, every season she changes her look (that will become the trend of that season), and she never repeats them. She really see fashion as an Art and not just for quick bucks!

Cindy Crawford in 1987, she was only 21 years old, ain't she gorgeous? photos by Peter Lindbergh source:Cindyplanet.com

wow.... cindy crawford looks like marija vujovic in these pictures! (or i should say marija vujovic looks like cindy...)

actually, both cindy crawford and marija vujovic look like gia carangi. in fact, when cindy started modeling, agents and designers called her "baby gia" because of the striking physical resemblance.

I miss her too :(
I don't think Marija looks like Gia as much -- maybe in a few pictures, but in general I think Marija's features are more delicate.

Wow. I'm loving the flashbacks... I would do anything to go back to the Supermodel Era. Everything as a whole seemed less pretentious back in the 90's (as compared with today).

And Cindy in wine red... perfection.

Help to ID!
