A Tribute to the 90s Supermodels

E-word you can take D and the gang. BTW,Mars I have to say I don't like heroin chic. I think heroin chic got us where we are today and ended popular modeling IMO.

I'll take this look & these girls anyday,Tatjana Patitz(1991). Photo Credit:Herb Ritts

oh my lord that's a beautiful photograph.

thank you!

HP, it's been forever:lol:! Now,wouldn't you take that over heroin sheek & it's girls and the way it is today?!

i MOST CERTAINLY would. in 0.2 seconds actually. the only models today who have that "glamazon" thing about them AND do high fashion are Gisele and Karolina.

but still this thread is just so amazing because it makes us all realize just how spectacular that whole 1988-1994 era really was. (is it a coincidence that that was also Whitney's peak period? LOL :flower: )

i really miss WOMEN as models. it is sooo frustrating to see page after page of these girls who just exude very little. they just seem so . . . i don't know. . . so young and uninteresting. while Naomi was hanging with real rockstars and royalty and international figures and business tycoons and the cultural artistic elite ---- these young girls just seem like they have nothing to talk about or something. maybe its the whole industry, not just the models. and maybe its just that the media has stopped following them the same way they followed the 90s gals, i don't know. and i don't really care either. i just want my gorgeous, glamorous women back!!!

daria is enough, along with other models like erin w., tasha tilberg, amanda moore or diana, elise. they may not fit your tastes, but that's the *mature* gang. i'm not interested in the thin alien teens either, that's another gang.
i mean, don't generalise, not all the new models look alike. :flower:

Didn't say they all look alike, but 97% of them give off some of the same vibes, they all uhmm how do you say don't jump out to most of us, I think that's why models aren't as big as the used to be,it just what we feel and in ways its shows.

i don't know a single guy that finds gemma or daria attractive i can see that they are great models don't get me wrong but i would never date them

:D:D:D:D Models now are a joke, nobody knows them, people is interested in Lindsay, Olsen twins, Hillary Duff.... not in Gemma or Daria.

Well I think Daria exudes more than Gemma, etc...as seen in those eds where she resembles Linda E. anyway!

i definitely agree that daria exudes more, WAY more than Gemma. the only thing that's interesting about Gemma is her facial structure. her body has very little discernable shape, and whereas someone like Gisele can pose really well and appear to be much curvier than she actually is, Gemma is not good at that. plus, though her facial structure is unique, i find her to be expressionless and her eyes blank most of the time. there's no inner FIRE that is in some other girls. i think Daria is great though.

yeah, daria is on another planet compared to the other current tops. but i don't feel at easy with those linda comparisons... sorry to repeat myself, but i feel it's like comparing old classical hollywood with the new hollywood of the 70s.... it's true that daria is so versatile than sometimes, in some ads, she can reach a supermodel aura, but she doesn't have that superhuman aura that linda had. she's a lot more human and that's why i like her, also because that superhuman attitude - sorry, shana lucas!! - sounds a bit arrogant to me, full of a conception of fashion and celebrity-sm that's very far from my values.

i can clearly see why daria and gemma are huge they both have 'it' but times have changed you can't really compare them to the the golden age of the 90s supermodels cause they appealed to men too not just women and they provided glamour when it was missing in hollywood,

i can't wait to see gemma become a woman and fill out more, she will be able to age cause she is a supermodel, i want to see her at 22-25 i'm sure i'll find her attractive then

Honestly, the Supers didn't really if at all had to 'fill out',take awhile to mature or whatever. I don't think many girls today(it's so fickle now)will be around to make the judgement of if/when they'll change.

thanks omifan9 for the meghan photo you know what i love so much about meghan was the grooming process from 1990-1992 and she landed that amazing vogue italia cover, she had that linda quality she went blonde and red and could handle couture i loved when vogues gave her the 1940s look i found some examples on the net will post them soon...

heres another one evoking the 1940s covers
