Lanvin by Claude Montana

During the supermodel era, Claude Montana was the designer behind Lanvin's couture line. His designs for Lanvin had the same futuristic edge as the designs for his own label.

Featuring: Helena, Christy, Emma, Angelika, and Linda.

wonderful fake covers everyone!! its decided we did a better job than anna in 1991:p more balanced with more variety:D who wants to do 1992 next?

still in 1991 here is a fake vogue cover of yasmeen

yasredvoguesk2.jpg

claude montana's vision was distinctive, i like the futuristic look and he fused it well with elegance. i put him in the same bracket as herve leger and mugler even though they are quite different. the emma s design still looks good even today.

karen was also one of my favourites, i remember watching videofashion back in the day with footage of the autumn/winter 1991 shows for the new york shows like anne klein where she was walking along side yasmeen in perfect sync, also for michael kors she was her runway partner in spring summer 1992.

i hope karen is fine now and moved on from her tough times, even yasmeen had a difficult time during her career, her father was fired from his job as a religious preacher cause of her modelling. not good:(

That's a great cover of Yasmeen!
I was thinking of doing 1992 also. :D
Of course, one of the issues would have to be the 100th anniversary issue.

What I loved about Claude Montana was that his vision was unique. He was one of the few designers whose creations had that futuristic look. His designs were different and original, and yes, they were elegant at the same time. In fact, there were a lot of other designers in that era (such as Romeo Gigli) who had a very unique vision, incomparable to other designers. Many of those designers are no longer around or no longer stage fashion shows. I miss those days. :(

Some more pics of Montana's Lanvin:

what happened to claude montana
He stopped designing for some reason, I don't remember exactly why. I think it had something to do with the death of his wife. There's a thread somewhere here on TFS about him and why he stopped designing.

Similar thing happened with Mugler. I think he only designs menswear now.

great pics Spiral!

ok we are moving into 1992:

once again you got anna's job the editor of US vogue and you have to decide on who goes on the cover for each month for the year 1992, who would you choose? also you can elaborate if you like, like deciding the designer they wore and/or photographer, its up to you.

however these rules must be followed

1 for the month of february you must choose two models.
2 for the month of april you must choose 10 models.
3 for the month of november you can choose 2 models, richard gere is disqualified ^_^ cause he is an actor and no actors allowed! so he can be replaced with another model.

so february=2 models, april=10 models & november=2 models

4 do not include actresses or singers (no madonna taking up a valuable month!) only models.
5 you can you use the same model twice or more.

there are many new emerging faces along with the established 1991 supermodels. how will you balance it? also take into consideration the changing times in autumn winter 92...the grunge look, will you reflect it?

thats it!!

Btw, I LOVED the Madonna cover from October 92. I hate seeing celebs on the cover of fashion magazines, but that Madonna cover was great. If it were up to me, I wouldn't change it. :D

great choices spiral1532, no problem about madonna i'm flexible she can have her cover ;) i didn't like growing trend of putting celebrities actresses and singers on covers that slowly built up. its worse now of course anna puts more celebrities on covers than models. i thought i'd keep it model only seen as there are so many to choose from.

ok here is my list:

january - eva herzigova
february - naomi & christy (great combo keep it the same)
march - meghan douglas
april - linda, christy, naomi, cindy, claudia, yasmeen, karen, helena, tatiana, stephanie
may - yasmeen
june - claudia
july - nadja
august - karen
september - linda
october - helena
november - kate moss & patricia hartmann in D&G
december - christy (in gold ferre dress)

i have only one fake cover made but i'll try and make more

in 1991 linda got the most covers from me but for 1992 christy gets most covers

I like doing fake cover so I will post mine later because I have to choose some pix and doing 10 models cover it will be difficult... I will try.

Here is the Madonna cover from 1992. It's the first Vogue Us I have bought.
