Achieving Award Show/Red Carpet Looks

Angeline Jolie looked stunning tonight at the SAG Awards in her dark, navy blue Max Azria gown that highlighted the actor’s blue eyes. Celebrity makeup artist Mary Burton wanted to create a 60’s look and chose to focus on Angelina’s eyes by applying lots of eyeliner and mascara. She used a liquid eyeliner (Lancôme Artliner in Noir) just above the lash line. To compliment Angelina’s eye color and to make her eyes really stand out, she applied a bluish grey eyeshadow (YSL Ombre Solo Double Effect Eyeshadow in #3 Blue Silk) to the eyelid. Finally, she applied several coats of Lancôme Courbe Virtuôse Mascara in Black. Mary added a touch of pink to the apples of the cheeks using Shu Uemura blush in M Pink 31. To create ultra-shiny and luminous lips, Mary used Lancôme Color Fever Gloss in Rose Jolie.(makeupbag.net)

Being a brand spokesperson for Chanel extends beyond lending your image to a fragrance ad here and there. As the face of Coco Mademoiselle, Keira Knightley also makes appearances at certain Chanel functions, such as yesterday’s Couture show in Paris, where the 24-year-old screen star naturally showed up in a head-to-toe Karl Lagerfeld creation, with a glossy new haircut to boot. Knightley’s eye-grazing fringe called to mind Jane Birkin in her glory days, but her makeup look was 100 percent modern. Makeup artist Kay Montano tended to the actress preshow with an arsenal of Chanel products. “I thought Keira’s makeup should be very ingenue in contrast to her traditional attire,” Montano said of Knightley’s mauve eyes, natural flush, and nude/pink lip. Below, the face painter cues us in on what she used to get the look.
Face

Montano kept Knightley’s skin very translucent with Chanel Vitalumière sheer foundation in Clair, followed by a light dusting of Poudre Universelle in Beige to give her a soft, matte texture. She then applied Chanel’s new Fandango blush, a beige-y peach, to the cheeks for a natural flush.
Eyes

After liberally smudging a brown eye pencil around her lash line, Montano applied a Chocolate Plum shadow from Les 4 Ombres in Mystic Eyes onto Knightley’s lids, completing the look with liquid liner on her top lash line, extended to a flick at the ends. A few coats of Exceptionnel de Chanel Mascara in black topped it all off.

Combining touches of the beige, brick, and pink shades from Chanel’s new, limited-edition Lèvres Signées Chanel satin lip cream palette, Montano created an intricate version of the classic nude lip with flecks of warm color. (style.com)[/FONT]

“When I asked Nicole what we wanted to do for the Oscars, she told me she just wanted to look beautiful,” says makeup artist Angela Levin. “So I decided to go for basic, beautiful makeup that shows who she is - an unbelievable beauty, timeless and glamorous. Her look was pure and gorgeous, just as it should be for the 81st Academy Awards.”
Angela prepped Nicole’s skin with he favorite skin care product, CHANEL Hydramax + Active Moisture Boost Cream. On her eyes, she used the sultry shades from the CHANEL Quadra Eye Shadow in Reflets d’Ombre. Several coats of CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir-Black were applied to create a glamorous, modern eye. She applied CHANEL Blush Duo Tweed Effect in Tweed Rose on Nicole’s cheekbones. For an added flawless effect, Angela used CHANEL Natural Finish Pressed Powder in Translucent 1 all over Nicole’s face. CoverGirl celebrity makeup artist Molly R. Stern created the look for Amy Adams tonight at the Academy Awards. Molly wanted Amy to have a saturated yet not overdone look that wouldn’t compete with her gorgeous dress and jewelry.
“First of all I have to say I was the most excited I have ever been this morning. I couldn’t sleep a wink,” says Molly. “I was dreaming about Amy’s makeup.”
To create Amy’s makeup, Molly gives us the step-by-step how-to:
I started by prepping the face with Jurlique citrus spray to give the face a healthy lift then I gave Amy a light facial massage with La Mer moisturizing lotion.
Next I based her face with YSL perfect touch #2. Then l blushed her cheeks with Chantecaille Aqua Blush in Frivolous as a peachy base with Chantecaille Sesame peach eyeshadow over top. Her eyes are based with NARS cream eyeshadow in Maracaibo. Over that I blended Shu Uemura shadow in gray 960 mixed with shu uemura shadow in purple 700 all over the lid up into the crease. With a flat shadow brush I added a touch of NARS shadow in Ondine on the inside corner of her lid to give the eye a little gold hint. I lined the top and underneath of her eye with Trish McEvoy’s Arabian nights definer. To soften the line underneath I added a soft smudge of Suqqu lavender shadow in #27. On her lashes I put 1 soft coat of CoverGirl Exact Eyelights Mascara in Black Ruby.
On her lip I based her lip with La Mer lipbalm then applied a thin coat of Outlast Lipstain by CoverGirl in Plum Pout. Then a sheer layer of Shu Uemura wine lip color in 265 with a dot of CoverGirl Wetslicks AmazeMint in Plum Crazy at the center of her lip for a little extra pout. That’s also what she took in her bag for touch ups.(makeupbag.net)

“The first thing I noticed when I saw Diane was her va va voom black dress,” says makeup artist Rachel Goodwin. “I wanted her makeup to be super sexy and stong, like she is. Because it was the Oscars, I focused on bumping up the eyes with lots of mascara and lashes, and sent her down the carpet glowing and gorgeous.”
Rachel opened up Diane Lane’s eyes with browns and taupes from the CHANEL Quadra Eye Shadow in Demure. She created a sultry look with soft browns in the crease and a soft ivory on the lids up to the brow bone. The eyes were lined with an Elizabeth Arden smoky eye pencil, and several coats of CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir-Black gave her a dramatic, seductive look. To give Diane’s skin a dewy, glowing look, Rachel applied CHANEL Teint Innocence Naturally Luminous Fluid Makeup mixed with a bit of Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturizer. On the contours of the cheeks, she applied a peach cream blush from Jouer. Finally, to complete the strong, sexy look, Rachel gave Diane a bold orangey red lip with CHANEL Hydrabase Lipstick in Fuego.(makeupbag.net)

“When I spoke to Jen before the Oscars, we decided we wanted to create a look that exuded modern glamour. She had just returned from vacation, and she had that relaxed, glowing feeling, which we wanted to display on the red carpet. She is the quintessential California glamour girl, and she was radiant as always on Oscar night.”—Angela Levin
Makeup artist Angela Levin prepped Jennifer’s skin with CHANEL Hydramax + Active Moisture Boost Cream. She then used a foundation brush to apply CHANEL Lift Lumiere Firming and Smoothing Fluid Makeup in Beige all over the face. Under Jennifer’s eyes, Angela applied CHANEL Lift Lumiere Smooth and Rejuvinating Eye Contour in Beige Lumiere. Instead of a traditional blush, Angela dabbed a bit of CHANEL Hydrabase Lipstick in Coco Red on the apples of Jennifer’s cheeks. She then applied CHANEL Sheer Brilliance in Sunkissed around the tops of her cheekbones, closer to the eye, for a bit of shimmer.
Jennifer’s eyes were a combination of LORAC eye shadows in Jade, Black, and Serenity, and a Tina Earnshaw shadow in Aubergine. Her lashes looked extra glamorous thanks to CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir-Black. On Jennifer’s lips, Angela used CHANEL Aqualumiere Lipshine in Panarea, available in April. To complete the look, she dusted Soleil Tan de CHANEL Bronzer on Jennifer’s skin, an exclusive creation product from CHANEL also launching in April.(makeupbag.net)

“My inspiration for Natalie on Oscar night was her dress,” says makeup artist Jeanine Lobell. “The colour was
a fantastic orchid, and being Rodarte, I wanted to do cool punk rock sexy fairy make up.”
Jeanine was going for a smoky eye on Natalie Portman, and used CHANEL Silky Eye Shadow Duo in Orient Express. She used the pale pink as a base and the dark purple smoked around the eye on the lid and smudged in lower lash line. She added CHANEL Intense Eye Pencil in Noir inside the eye, and lots of CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir-Black for thick sexy lashes. She used CHANEL Perfect Brows in Brun, using the two colours to make a strong brow, but keeping it soft.
Jeanine then used CHANEL Powder Blush in Narcisse, a flattering, bright pink shade, high on the cheek bones. She then added CHANEL Glossimer in Galactic for a more pale lavender lip. Finally, for a sexy, bronze sheen, Jeanine applied CHANEL Sheer Brilliance in Sunkissed on Natalie’s arms, shoulders, and décolleté.(makeupbag.net)

Anne Hathaway looked regal in a sparkling jewel encrusted Armani Privé gown. Her makeup look was sophisticated and elegant. Anne’s perfect brows framed her face and her long, lush lashes really made her eyes pop. She donned a deep berry-toned lip to complete her look. To get Anne’s look, try Lancôme Le Crayon Poudre in Sable to fill in and shape the brows. Lightly dust Lancôme Color Design Eye Shadow in Ciel du Soir over the entire eyelid followed by Le Crayon Khôl in Black Ebony applied to the upper lash line. Lightly smudge so there are no harsh lines. Apply several coats of Lancôme Ôscillation Mascara for a faux-lash effect. We weren't sure why Jessica Biel was on the red carpet last night (Sci-Tech Oscars?), but after witnessing her perfect complexion and expertly tousled hair, we didn't really care. Celebrity makeup artist Pati Dubroff created a "soft and romantic" look for Biel with no eyeliner and only one coat of mascara on her eyes, and Sensai Brightening Crème topped off with Kevyn Aucoin The Creamy Moist Glow in Nuelle on her face. Save for a light dusting of BeneFit Creaseless Shadow in Gossip and Dior 5-Colour Eyeshadow in Petal Shine on her eyes, plus Dior Addict Lipcolor in Infamous Pink on her lips, Biel went pretty much au naturel. "It's about the youthful radiance of a young woman," makeup artist Jeffrey Paul said about the makeup he created for newcomer Freida Pinto, who doesn't need much in the way of color enhancement to look beautiful. So as not to detract from Pinto's cobalt blue Galliano gown, Paul kept things soft, using a combination of brown and pink eye shadows and DiorShow Mascara in Brown. Dior Addict High Shine Lipstick in Sheer Rose gave her lips just enough shine and a hint of natural pink pigment.(style)
