Alexander Wang F/W 13.14 New York

As always one of the nicest show to watch due to fantastic music and an interesting runway setup.
Wang's pieces work great on the runway, but a lot of this collection isn't wearable.
But can I just say that I'm more than in love with the black "swirl" heels towards the end?

the fur is a dream and I am in love with that amber colored jacket. I love this collection, it feels very luxurious

When people keep spouting off all these references to other designers I get the impression it's because they associate every silhouette --many of which are themselves common or recycled-- with a particular designer which means no one can design anything without being accused of copying. Really there is nothing new. The slouchy, cocooned silhouette is a staple now and accusing everyone who utilizes it of copying is tired.

It's actually gotten comical. Apparently this one collection is copying 10 different designers. Yeah, don't think so.

Anyhoo. I love this collection. My only gripe is the color scheme. It's time Wang learned to incorporate richer colors into his palette. It would only enhance his designs even more.

this is not doing a thing for me. very generic, stale, boring. i'm let down. especially after last season.

Oh come on!!. If any of you see a "more structured" coat IMMEDIATELY you say "BALENCIAGA" I really think this is just a WANG show (not one with "Balenciaga references" to get us excited for Paris, like some people said)... I loved this collection, and the part impressed me the most was the pants! I liked how they were made..I don't know how to explain it (one side of it ended in the opposite side(?) ) but it looked great on movement.

Speaking of movement, this collection presents itself much better entirely on movement, every drape, pleat & sequins had the best flow of motion and that's why I was so happy to see it live first before the pictures came out.

I really love this collection, some looks fall rather bland, but some are just adorable, love those sweaters!

No, that's simply not true. I'm not simple. I know my fashion history.
There's a difference between calling two A-line skirts, for example, a look-a-like and calling someone like Wang or Altuzarra out on their blatant, blatant copying.

We should probably forgive him this season, he has HUGE shoes to fill at Balenciaga

Well if certain designers keep blatantly ripping of collections from just a few seasons ago, ofcourse TFsers will call on it, there is nothing comical about that. Whats comical here are the clothes and the idea of passing off knocked off fashion from Parisian designers as original. :innocent:

Right. The "rip-off" is so blatant that the collection is being compared to YSL. Balenciaga, Rick Owens, Marc Jacobs..etc? Some of those designers are polar opposite. He would have to be schizophrenic not to mention have a lot of time on his hands to be combing through the archives of 10 or so designers to come up with this fantasy collection.

Ignorance is bliss, I guess, well its quite simple to have several copies, one outfit can be directly knocked off from one designer and one from another, its not so complicated to have a myriad of direct knock offs.

Wow...no words to describe the fur gloves. I guess he's a fan of the US Constitution's Second Amendment.

Okay.... we get it, your an expert. Your many attempts at proving so confirms it, however....all of this referencing is getting really old, especially when it's this specific. It's quite obvious that no one really cares if someone is taking bit's and pieces of old collections and modernizing it and that includes both editors and designers. Many designers are also self-referential, are you gonna throw out every Prada collection that includes elements that are vaguely similar to past collections?

great show!! but i see a whole lot of Rick Owens in here but overall, the collection fits the image of Alexander Wang, sorta

This was an exceptional collection from A. Wang, he always knows how to surprise it's audience and clients!

But some people live to be negative to everything and everyone. Alexander Wang only takes inspiration & doesn't copy any work from great designers, he gives his own twist in everything with great vision and excellent inovative design.

People love to talk bad about everything good or bad, excellent or disastrous. Thank God fashion critics, editors and some of us can appreciate great young fashion talents like Alexander. ;)
