Influenced by the early Nineties and Tom Ford’s Gucci days, Alexander Wang turned out a sexy, sophisticated lineup with an urban edge. Velvet was key, from a smoking jacket to a biker bomber and as trim on bustiers and corset dresses.

I like the Velvet pieces which are worn with that Wang-Casual attitude; but the rest of the pieces are quite plain, no?

His Resort collection was much more interesting I feel.

But I guess this is the dilemma he faces. As a 'basics' designer, he has to constantly try and find ways to invigorate his brand without falling into the trap of repetitiveness and blandness.

Yes, it´s quitely plain, but you can feel his amazing fashion sense. I like it and i like how it looks like the early Tom Ford collections... so 90´s. ¿What do you think?

Alright I've come up with more...

I keep trying, but I honestly see nothing that is remotely Tom Ford for Gucci about this, with the one exception being that awful red velvet blazer. But whereas the Gucci one from '96 was chic and well cut, this one is sloppy looking and the velvet looks cheap.

I mean, was he looking at the same Gucci as the rest of the world, or was he just throwing the first soundbite that popped into his head out there and hoping it made sense?

Well I like the dress in the 6th picture because its basically a different variation of my favorite dress from his fall collection.

Those sheer biker shorts are horrible though.

it's seems similar to rag and bone's ss09 collection no? i'm not really loving it like his last collection. it's quite dissapointing. i think the problem is the styling. if that were changed then maybe it'd be better. plus those sheer biker shorts are wrong on sooooo many levels.
