you're welcome that pic is soooo gorgeous
The shaven-headed model of the moment, 21, with unusual table manners. She's the granddaughter of controversial property tycoon 'Black Jack' Dellal. Her dad was once fined £2,500 for involvement with a ring that smuggled cocaine into Britain and given a suspended sentence, and one of her aunts died from an overdose. She recently had a moment of notoriety herself and was splashed across the dailies with a suspicious white powder. Unashamedly into rollerblading and her Game Boy - catch sight of her walking the family dog Jimmy in Holland Park. Alex and Laura [Fraser] both have tattoos of each others initials on their fingers.
Sloane Danger!
You wouldn’t wanna meet the DC crew down a dark alley. They’re a menace to polite society, says Tom Carroll.
They are almost impossible to identify but are the talk of the town. They are a secret, edgy social clique with a strong belief in their own coolness, but who are publicity-shy and remain hidden. But to many of the fast London set they have become the gang to get in with and they are increasingly becoming noticed as a strong force.
Welcome to the DC crew. No, it’s nothing to do with DC10 in Ibiza, AC/DC or Washington DC. Word on the street - well, Richmond High Street - is that it stands for ’discharge’. Gross, we know. But then dirty is what these lot do best - it’s not cool to be clean-cut, it seems. They’re rich but a bit grimy. They all have a tattoo somewhere on their body and it’s the letters ‘DC’.
A key figure is James Jagger, the loose-limed actor and scion of the Rolling Stones’ Mick. Other important members of the crew include blonde wannabe punk toff model Laura Fraser, the unconventional style icon Alice Dellal and Lord Moyne’s youngest (and another model), Tom Guinness.
You can tell them by their particular dress code: the ripped leather jacket (but don’t think it’s cheap - these are Sloanes in denial and the rips are by Dolce & Gabbana), Doc Marten boots as well as studs on wrists and/or ankles. The number of holes in your tights is taken very seriously and will have been discussed at length.
Back in the late Seventies, punk had a similar frisson of cool. At Oxford, girls in tartan miniskirts shocked with pink hair and a ball and chain attached to their ankles - for no other reason than to look a bit scary. And while the crew has no specific purpose other than to be a group of fashion-forward kids with a feel for hedonism, they have that self-confidence that comes from a world of privilege.
It’s been jokingly put about (and so has become part of their urban myth) that to be initiated into the crew you have to either hurt a baby or shoot a policeman. Apocryphal we are sure, but provocative all the same.
They always hunt as a pack and stick together. At Mary Charteris’s 21st at Stanway this year they spent most of the night and the next day locked in a room together. Doing what? Who knows. They’re described as a little scary and superior by someone who has partied with them. But they have teen acolytes, mini DCers like Assisi Jackson Jade Jagger’s daughter, who are on occasion allowed into the fold.
They gatecrash parties as a gang - most recently the model Rosie Hunting-Whiteley’s birthday bash. Weekends are spent being very cool, obviously. So during the summer you’ll see them at every festival imaginable. Glasto’s a must, or the Bristol Carnival. Seek them out at Gaz’s Rockin’ Blues at the St Moritz Club, Smash & Grab at Punk or East End raves.
They’re the slightly obtuse sort of people who take Polaroids on nights out, scan them and then upload them onto Facebook. ‘Safe, blud’ as one of them might say, instead of ‘OK, mate’.
Emma Chitty
The flirty 21 year-old with cropped blonde hair who is an integral part of the crew. She’s besties with Alice and Laura and dates guitarist Jamie T, another member. Catch her raving in Shoreditch. Or going for a swim on Hampstead Heath with Laura Fraser.
Isabella Ramsey
The 22-year-old former Francis Holland girl is also a posh girl in denial - her mother is Sarah Keswick, so she’s a Jardine Matheson heiress to boot.
Laura Fraser
Sexy Burberry model, 21, who used to go out with crew member Lester Lloyd. Her parents are Lady Charlotte Greville (the Earl of Warwick’s daughter) and the Hon Andrew Fraser (the son of Lord Lovat who was killed in a hunting accident in 1994). Laura grew up with older sister Daisy in their mother’s phat pad on Peyt Place off Old Church Street - so they’re neighbours of Kate and Pippa Middleton… definitely not the sort of people they are likely to hang out with. Spot her taking a dip with her mother in a stream at Cambridgeshire festival, the Secret Garden npart. She has a large tattoo of her dog on her leg - it just died though.
James Jagger
Jimmy Jagger, 23, aka ‘Jimbo Mutant Shinobi’ - he had to change his Facebook name due to unwanted solicitations - doesn’t really need much introduction. Friends describe the Old Stoic acting talent as ‘wicked’. The crew revolves around him - Alice and Laura live in his house in Kentish Town where they share a love of heavy metal music… to the extent that they went to a metal festival together in Slovenia last year. Does grimy and bit unwashed to a T.
Tom Guinness
Tom, 22, is the chiselled-jawed male model looking out from Burberry and Pringle’s recent campaigns. He’s the eighth and youngest kid of Jonathan Guinness aka Lord Moyne (Tom’s mother was his late mistress Susan ‘Shoe’ Taylor) so he’s Daphne Guinness’s half-brother and granny was Diana Mitford. Rock ‘n’ roller - he’s in a band with his 24-year-old nephew Dick Charteris. Actually very nice - and super-hot.
Lester Lloyd
Trustafarian DJ, 23, who is Laura Fraser’s ex-boyfriend Jimmy Jagger’s best friend and also went out with Lily Allen, who wrote Smile about him. Incredibly hot, Lester’s the brains behind drum ‘n’ bass DJ outfit Bin Juice. Good toff credentials too - he’s Dan Macmillan’s cousin.
