I sort of agree. The whole thing about being a punk whilst being incredibly rich and spoilt at the same time seems like a bit of a joke to me. Though i've never actually read her saying on interviews that she IS a punk, she always comes across as a wannabe rebel and it's so unconvincing.

She has never said that she is a punk, but what defines a punk anyway? In my opinion it is their attire. And Alice's style has never changed so it is not some wannabe phase that she is going through, this is simply the way she like's to dress.
If you don't like that style then you may be disappointed because I don't think she is going to change soon!
In terms of her being from a rich family, well what is she supposed to do? That is her family.

I really don´t think the clothes are what defines a punk, maybe on the outside, but other than that, punks has always been defined by their attitude, and the clothes comes with the attitude.

personally, I don´t care where Alice came from.
I mean, Joe Strummer is my greatest hero ever, and when it got known that he came from a good family, and went to boarding school and all that, people doubted his punk credibility.

I agree that she probably won´t change style very soon, since she has dressed like this for years, even before the ´90s came back in fashion.

Alice was briefly on Daisy Lowe's programme on MTV.. about 3.45 minutes in on Part 2. They were both doing publicity work in the charity shop Barnado's.. but apparently Alice just shopped!

In my opinion is not just their attire, it's a choice of lifestyle and an attitude. Amongst other things, it's a subculture. I don't understand how someone can be a part of this subculture while getting on a yacht with the Casiraghi family and jet setting amongst the richest people in the world at the same time.

once again, i've NEVER heard of her calling herself a punk but she definitely has the attitude which in my opinion makes her a wannabe.

also, who said she's always had that style? surely you mean since we started noticing her. we also started noticing peaches geldof when she became the trouble child but she hasn't ALWAYS behaved like that, judging from her pictures. but nowadays she calls herself a grunge and everyone thinks she's so cool for it.

Punks are pissed at the society (which is understandable) but instead of getting implicated in their communities they choose to marginalize themselves and isolate themselves from the rest of society.

Doesn't really help. They create their own little anti-everything ghetto. They pretend to be anarchists when they are really not because if they read a thing or two about anarchism they'll understand it's more than a code of conduct (ex: not eating at Mcdonalds or refusing to work). Punks are simply alienating themselves under capitalism. They're living in a self imposed ghetto and see no hope of changing things.

That's why punks piss me off. And that's why wannabe punks (come on, she's trying so hard, those who say she never said it herself, I mean, just look at her pictures!!!!!!!!!!!) are !!!!!

And like someone mentioned earlier: punk during the day and socialite at night??? Come on, does she have split personality or what?

She has dressed like this for a long time, I met her through work about 7 years ago and she was dressed this way, although her look is a lot more severe now, with the shaved head.Long enough for it not to be a phase, as I said.
I just think it is absurd that because she has been bought up in a rich household, she can't dress this way... all because there family is not "punk" enough. So silly.
Do all girls from rich families have to dress like Paris Hilton??

i dont get why its looked down upon to dress a certain way unless you live the whole life style that comes with it.
she dresses well and most of the time she looks good (sometimes i dont like her outfits)
but if i found out shes lives the exact opposite lifestyle to what her wardrobe suggests, it wouldnt change my opinion about how much i like what she wears.

just looked through this whole thread and am feeling so inspired! I've always loved Alice and don't care if she doesn't live the true punk lifestyle. She clearly loves what she wears, rocks what she wears and loves the music and emulates that through her clothes.

after looking through this thread I realised what I've been missing in my life-a pair of Dellal like ankle boots! like these ones:

I need a pair asap. To me they look like these new rock ones but I can't find the models she wears so am unsure. Can anyone help me? I would love you forever! x
