Allure September 2021 : Normani by Adrienne Raquel | the Fashion Spot

Allure September 2021 : Normani by Adrienne Raquel

Yikes, looks like a teen magazine. Seventeen to be exact. Maybe Allure is targeting teens now which would actually make sense.
I don't get the saccharine quinceanera makeup and garish art direction. Normani is a gorgeous girl whose beauty needed to shine. You can experiment and still keep it trendy/grown-up.

Finally some Normani on the covers, but this is really quite awful. She still looks so beautiful but what the hell is going on all over that cover? It's like purposefully sabotage themselves (and their cover subjects).

Her return has been sort of lukewarm to me but I really do love her music. I hope the continual press roll-out is more flattering than this. Does someone in the industry have it out for her?

Seriously ruined by the choice of blank espression and then those graphics .....

90 pages.

Highlights:
  • The New ROYGBIV with the cast of Gossip Girl 2021
  • Talking Beauty with Gottmik

So they really used cover her with red cabbage on the cover . This magazine is just clueless. Shut it down already.

She's very photogenic and has amazing skin I expected this to be very clean showcasing her natural glow but it's a hot colourful mess!

Can't believe Ben Hassett shot that beauty edit. It's all so far removed from his signature.
he's clearly not cut out for the new hipster aesthetic. and they should've gotten a different stylist and hair guy for the edit. Beauty looks great and interesting, but very cluttered with the styling.

The opening shot of Normani's edit is stunning. Formichetti will style until he's 100 it seems.

Always find it interesting how the drag queens always have the most thematic shoots in magazines. Across the board. Never get bored looking at their content.
