American Horror Story

yeah i have to say terribly underwhelming almost anticlimactic myself. after the episode before the holidays,i grew disenchanted with it. truth told,i couldn't wait for it to finally be over with. the story just felt very schizophrenic by the end. the overall consensus is that it was all rather a messy, sporadic season. some aspects i liked, others either left quite a lot to be desired or were completely loathsome. i know a lot of people loved this season mainly due to the personalities of the characters but frankly there was just no real storyline that grabbed me.

I'm sorry, maybe I have bad anxiety but I couldn't breathe during the whole 7 wonders . I knew Fiona was Supreme, thanks to a spoiler while scrolling down tumblr. Each time someone didn't died it got harder for me to watch. The ending though was kind of stale

I love this one

Myrtle was amazing, she had the best parts. Especially he final words, everyone I was with had no idea who that was...

I loved all the personal Hells and that Madison ended up as a doll for Spaulding.

while the season was all over the place, it did have its great moments. I always knew Cordelia would be supreme. And I'm glad that this season ended fully, there was no feeling of wanting more. The story had ended.

jmrmartinho, here's my list of favorite characters:

1. Myrtle Snow
2. Tate
3. Lana Winters
4. Sister Mary Eunice
5. Misty Day
6. Constance Langdon
7. Angel of Death / Pepper
8. Marie lavaeu
9. Moira O'Hara / Nora Montgomery
10. Madison Montgomery

I finally watched the finally yesterday and was a little underwhelmed. I had a feeling they would go the route they did with the new supreme. In the last scene with Cordelia and Fiona, when they were hugging it out, I half expected Fiona to stab Cordelia to reclaim her title as Supreme. That would have made it more interesting for me.

I loved that she yelled Balenciaga!ha haaa..
But otherwise quite dissapointing episode.

^^^ Absolutely!

What an awful waste of potential Coven has been.

If someone out there were smart-- and no, please not Ryan and Co., they'd develop a show with Myrtle as the blueprint for the fashion industry. Her character had the wittiest, most clever, most biting referential lines-- she seemed to be written for, and on, some amazing show that has yet to be developed. And so sophisticatedly satirical without ever being some awful caricature like the ones on Ugly Betty or Devil Wears Prada... Myrtle/ Frances was just the best. The "BALENCIAGA!" last word was... so unexpectedly stunning, and appropriately hilarious.

I hope the same, I much prefer the darkness of Asylum or Murder House. I thought I read somewhere it was for sure going to be shot in New Orleans again.

yeah i think i read that he said he was really keen to shoot in NO again if they could find a suitable location. it actually would be kind of cool if they did it outside NO around some of those more spooky rural properties.

^ that would be, I originally assumed he was going to shoot in some areas like that for Coven..

Also read online that Sarah Paulson is practicing a "special skill" for her character.

i know that would have fit perfectly. and it did appear as such through the promos but alas..

that's interesting. you know i saw her a couple weeks ago on craig ferguson's show and i have to say never really seeing her outside the show's parameters,i was quite taken with her. i'm glad she's returning next season,i did like her character on asylum and there was some likable aspects on coven as well.

Yikes-- same vibe as Coven? That can't be good...

There's speculation that it will be in a circus. Like Freaks. Maybe that's why Sarah's character will require to perform "a special skill"...?

^ That's what I thought originally but it's not.

Do you still think next season will be darker?
Hmmmm. I don’t know what to say. It’s a combination of things. It’s a combination of two time periods, with the main one being the 1950s. I don’t know. We haven’t started writing it yet, so I don’t really know the tone. I like that we had a lot of comedy in this year, and I like the comic characters, so I think that will remain.

Looking back now that it’s over, what do you think of Coven?
I do feel it’s my favorite, but I say that for every season, because I have sadness about saying goodbye. I thought it was a lot of fun to work on and challenging. I have the next two seasons plotted out, and I like both of them. I did marvel that the show grew so much, because we went into this season and everybody thought it would be our lowest-rated season because it would be so specific. The fact that it became the highest-rated one was interesting to me, and it proves you can never predict what people are going to like. I was surprised and shocked. I’m really proud of it. I love the actors in it. I love the costumes, and the production design was amazing this year. I thought all the department heads did an amazing job. Next year will be equally as challenging, because so much of it is period and bizarre and crazy and gothic. My feeling is, if you loved this season, you’ll love next season. It has the same sort of comedic tone to it.

Has anyone online guessed it yet?
No. No one has guessed it.

People seem to really want American Horror Story: Circus.
I saw those posters. I don’t know where people came up with that idea. Sometimes I think its people wanting us to do topics and doing fan posters. No one has completely guessed what it is.

This is what we know about Season 4 so far:

"It’s a combination of two time periods, with the main one being the 1950s."
Murphy previously revealed Season 4 was set in the 1950s, but now he's told EW that there's another era thrown in the mix.

It will have the same comedic elements as "Coven."
When asked how dark the next season will be, Murphy said he hasn't decided on the tone yet, but that "it has the same sort of comedic tone" as "Coven." "My feeling is, if you loved this season, you’ll love next season."

But it will still be crazy.
"Next year will be equally as challenging," Murphy said "because so much of it is period and bizarre and crazy and gothic."

Jessica Lange and Sarah Paulson are expected to return.
Murphy previously said that Jessica Lange has been practicing her German accent (hmm), so we know she's coming back. While the Season 4 cast hasn't been confirmed on paper yet, Sarah Paulson told The Hollywood Reporter "I'm on track and that is the plan."

No one has completely guessed the Season 4 premise yet.
We made our speculations for what Season 4 could be about, but Murphy claims that "No one has completely guessed what it is."

And about that "American Horror Story: Circus" rumor ...
The fan-made posters and trailers for this crazy amazing idea surfaced online earlier this month, and Wednesday, following the "Coven" finale, Twitter blew up with the rumors. Some overly zealous fans even claimed the unofficial "Circus" was really happening. But sadly, Murphy confirmed that they're just rumors saying, "I don’t know where people came up with that idea."

And what we know about Season 5:

Jessica Lange won't be returning.
Lange previously spoke to EW, saying that the fourth season will be her last since she wants to have more time to herself. We'll definitely miss Lange's amazing "American Horror Story" characters, but at least we'll get her one last time.

Murphy has a plan, but it's very different.
The co-creator told EW that he knows what the fifth season will be about "because it’s a radically different idea from the stuff we’ve been doing and it will take a lot of playing." Could he be any more vague?

Scott, I had never seen Sarah Paulson outside of AHS, until this red carpet film awards circuit. She was at a lot of award shows because of her role in 12 Years a Slave. Cordelia was my favorite character in Coven, I always knew she would be supreme.

1950s... Germany.... Nazi hunters? Ryan seems to love ramming his plight-of-the-gays analogies into AHS, so Nazis would be the ideal antagonists, no? And since he cannot help himself with the musical numbers, cabaret and torch singers would be more appropriate for the 1950s Nazi hunters scenario than all the musical numbers he's forcefully shoved into the previous AHS.

Sarah's character is a cabaret singer/ Nazi hunter?

gah…i wish that circus side show theme were true.

since not,i think it would be interesting if ryan went in a sort of pagan direction a la "wicker man" for next season. maybe something also full-on sci-fi? like a sort of b-movie approach…..i mean you can find humour, some kitsch in those.

chloe sevigny could be returning to AHS next season…depending on course how her new show does,at least that's what ryan said. not sure why that would be a conflict since AHS season starts in october and this show in march. shooting for AHS usually takes place in the summer and this one would likely be shot in the autumn. if she wants to return, why not?

truth told,i like the look of her new A&E show but it isn't 'the killing' or anything and we all know for as great as it was the nonsense it got subjected to.
