Anna Sui F/W 2025.26 New York

The casting penalizes her a bit to be honest, but as someone already said I can't help but notice Sascha Rajasalu and she is magnificent. I know it seems strange, but give Anna Sui to Piergiorgio please.

A typical Anna Sui's style. She always sticks to her style. However, I stopped admiration for several years now; her designs are not that beautiful as before.

I think Anna Sui has had to scale down her runway shows after Isetan pulled out its investment in her brand. Anyway, I think the more intimate presentation suits her clothes better. It also feels truer to her style, and the way she runs her business.

She was one of the first designers I loved - I admire her curiosity about sub-cultures and the way she puts together all sorts of esoteric references. There is a strong and identifiable Anna Sui look, and that's helped her sustain her business through licensing and collaborations. I think it's really wonderful that much of her main line continues to be manufactured in New York - how many American designers even manufacture domestically?

I think her work was strongest in the late 90s, and much of what she shows today is maybe a remix of her signatures. It remains interesting nonetheless, and I'm glad young people now are discovering her.

Anna is unrelenting in her aesthetic, I will give her that.
Glad to see she is still on the runway, even if it's not my choice style.
I respect what she does, has always done and for how long she's done it.

…This current fashion era is at its bottommost of the bottom of the barrel when there’s a sudden adoration/appreciation/respect for Anna Sui LMFAO

Straightup, she’s only ever had a handful of templates since the 90s, interchangeable with the prints/patterns/materials of the season. Rinse and repeat: cropped jacket w/mini; babydoll dress; Peter Pan A-line coat; Holly Hobbie ankle-length dress; and the baby tee with the current trendy print of the moment— that I suspect 9yo baby Mullet likely had the silver version of…

I remember us kids in the era of Clueless unanimously rejecting Anna Sui for being too… juvenile LOOL

But now as a working adult, guided with the professional experience of how fragile, fleeting and disposable any fashion brand can be despite dedication/talent/hard work, I do have a tremendous amount of professional respect for her brand of fashion worldbuilding, that’s securely maintained her place way past the hype of the 90s. She’s managed to keep her products affordable but still uniquely personal, and beyond fashion at this point. It’s never been, and still not my preference, but that she, as others have mentioned, remained true to her sensibility, and still grow her brand, is endearing, enriching and encouraging to all the young, indie brands that just want to design and produce wears that they enjoy wearing themselves— but clearly lacking in creative talent and innovative ambitions. That’s not the secret to her success, of course: Hard work and fortune has a lot to do with it. But people that think talent alone is enough, learn quickly that it isn’t.
