Antwerp Six: Belgium Avant Garde

i still love this thread . Last night in my kitchen I was saying to my housemates how antwerp has housed amazing fashion design and that the royal academy is based there and they all laughed at me! I tried explaining to them about the Antwerp Six but they weren't having any of it! Sadly, there are people like this in the world

I like to make omelettes with them.

Kidding.

I'm not convinced that Les Hommes understand about Eton.

OR better I sell their clothes.
but I always can ask them to bake eggs with you.

Meg,that's too funny! I think alot of us have had this experience. And it's really no use in explaining because they always give you this funny look of bewilderment  I keep thinking are people really this narrow-minded? Cause the only thing I ever get tossed at me is how great the latest Vuitton or Prada is.

Belgian cobbler Lieven Bonne

I found a couple of very significant images of her work...finally! Was thinking of you too,Softie,as I distinctly remember you were very keen to learn more about here.

Anyway, amazing Belgian designer Lieven Bonne, who does the footwear for Bruno Pieters. She graduated from the Academy in '98 and by the looks has a particular aesthetic for structure and form in her works. Which also one can clearly tell from what she does with Bruno.

I do lest to say, rather sculptural as well

Will add more later ;)

I know she isn't one of the "Six" but since the topic also refers to Belgian avant garde I decided to move it here...to give the thread a bump. And I don't think it will be a very big thread alone so..

Hi everyone:
I am trying to track an old T-shirt or hoodie for the bf who is a fan of Liev van Grope. Something with a big image of Christ like he used to have back in the 90s. I know he is out of business but any ideas of what happened to his collections? or where to find some nice vintage will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

wow, those boots for bruno pieters are amazing  they look better off than I think they would on....not sure how the sculptural quality would translate but they are beautiful

Antwerp is a really cool shopping destination. Really underrated in my opinion. And it's a good English speaking European destination!

From the "Victim or Hero" series? Call the MEN'S INA store in New York. I saw one there a few months ago. I also saw a ton of them in Century21 three years ago, if only I knew then :D .
