Antwerp Six: Belgium Avant Garde

Antwerp is a really cool shopping destination. Really underrated in my opinion. And it's a good English speaking European destination!

You bet. Been there twice, can't wait to go back. Hell, I want to move there!

wow, those boots for bruno pieters are amazing  they look better off than I think they would on....not sure how the sculptural quality would translate but they are beautiful

I think those boots are from his graduation collection because I haven't seen them in any of his collections since his debut.

But yeah, they are quite eye-catching. I agree, they probably aren't that functional for the street...although,I can imagine somebody wearing them to a party...or something rather eventful:p

Mischievous,Lieve is she,btw ;)

Where are you located? If you ever get to Antwerp, they got a new shop there called Labels Inc. which carries alot of past collections of Belgian designers. If you're lucky, you might even spot the Lieve Van Gorp tee. I know what t'shirt you're talking about too and it was one of her biggest hits, actually!

Hey, I've been there! They had a tonne of Margiela stuff and lots of Dries too. But I ended up buying a Marni skirt....which kinda defeated the object of going to Antwerp but anyway.........

Yeah, everybody says it's pretty cool. Supposed to be giving Francis a bit of run for their money.

Thank you all. I will be in Atwerp in two week, so I will try those places.

Scott thanks for the Liev "she" comment. I did not know Liev was a girlsname  . One always learns something new everyday.

^You should have yourself a wonderful time. It's a beautiful town with an amazing cultural & shopping experience....at least for some of us Belgian-fiends

This may seem a silly question, but, how do stores, opening up, manage to stock past collections from designers?

It's like a designer consignment store or a second hand designer store really. People drop their old clothing off or they get surplus stock from past collections.

thanks. small pics but tres chic.
cool image show
best thing all day, sober

i saw some fantastic stuffs of her but herwebste doesnt work:-(

Jamie, are you confusing Les Hommes with Dior Homme?

nope im not cauz a friend of mine from antwerpen.. the 2 designer tom&Bart reated the brand im sure abt it but kris took over it id kinda rumor that i wann know

^i wouldn't put much faith into that rumour. i don't think for the label that they created themselves, independently, without shareholders, they would just allow kris,or anybody for that matter,to take over in any way. if there are problems financially,or one or the other wanting to break away solo, they would just close it.

btw, marina's site might be having server problems or that she re-created one on a different server. i remember, last i checked,it had a belgian prefix rather than a .com. she's probably just building a new one now.

the website has been down for more than a month.. thats not professional!

well, not every designer has a web site. i'm still waiting for Preen designers to get one up. i don't think it's necessarily unprofessional though. sometimes the server is screwed and sometimes designers like to have a revamp....and that can take a while.

not all has one like ann demeulemeester, dirk van saene ect.. if they wann present themselves, market themselves or sell online which can save laods of cost for the customers......they'd have one.
