Apple or PC?

I had an iBook for a while. Now I'm probably going to go for a Sony TX-model or a Picturebook (not manufactured anymore, I think). I'll go with whatever is smaller.

If I had the option of having Apple OS on it, I would install it.

The other problem is that everything I have is for Windows. So I would have to buy it all in Apple OS, which would be a pain in the ***, and also, some of it isn't made for Apple OS or isn't in circulation anymore.

Boo hoo.

I'm agree with the most part of you: i prefer Apple. For work it's really better and the design of this computer is so great!
I :heart::heart: :heart: APPLE!!!

My next computer will probably be the MacBook. My bf is going to set up Windows on it for me so I can boot up in OS X or Windows.

Okay, please excuse the stupid question...longtime pc user, want to get a mac. I think I'm going to get the 13" macbook, but I keep hearing about the powerbook. Is that different than the Mac Pro? I only ask cause I was in the Apple store today and didn't see anything labeled powerbook and can't see anything on the site either. Is it something they don't make anymore or am I just completely blind....? Thanks in advance.

Para, the iBooks/PowerBooks are old laptops, Apple changed the names to MacBook/MacBook Pro when they did the switch to Intel processors. :flower:

Thank you so much, that clears so much up! Appreciate it!:flower:

Macs are so ...simple that I felt really stupid when first trying to operate them. They're pretty n stuff, but I'm still use to using PCs. Maybe one day I'll get one..

I have a MacBook Pro and I LOVE IT! I used to use Windows, but I've been wanting a Mac for a few years now, and I must say that I'm very happy I switched over!

PC. I love how I can build it from the ground up, add, remove, upgrade, downgrade. Which is my current baby. Has little tweaks that need to be fixed but I love challenges. Currenly running blackbox as a shell replacement, and will get another hdd as my primary is a bit old. I have an itch to play around with Linux. :ninja:

Mac's have had viruses before. The reason they don't get it as often is because it's not used en masse by everyone as PC's are. If a hacker wants to create some havoc, you go after the biggest pond.

Actually, algorithms are easier to do on PCs... if I remember right.

And other pro about PCs are that games are better to play on them. A lot has to do with just the screen itself....

All things and people Apple has an undeniable air of smug superiority that surrounds it, in both a good way and not. (This coming from an religious Apple user.) It starts with the inclusivity. If you have an iPod, you must have iTunes, and therefore you're more likely to buy from the iTunes Music Store. And like others have mentioned, a lot of programs on PCs you can't run on Macs. Same way vice versa. However, since this past year, you can run Microsoft on Macs. So, somethings Apple have branched out of its little world.

People usually want to buy Macs because it's cool. And let's face it, macs look better. But, unlike most people I actually buy it because it's more useful to me. I've been a mac user since middle school where I had a Mac Addict teacher who got me hooked. So I've been using iMovie and iPhoto for about 6 years now, and I simply find it easier to work with. And all those programs that came with my computer, I use almost all of them. I can't say the same for my old Dell.

Plus, Mac's interface has become 10X more practical and easy, IMO at least. I can't live without my F12 key, dock, spotlight, F10 key, F9 key, or my tab/star key. Just by pressing F12, I get my dictionary, soduku, calculator, translator, and calculator, along with some Mad Lib game I never play. When it comes to writing essays (speaking of writing essays...) instead of waiting for dictionary.com to load or flip through a bunch of pages, I just press F12 and there you go... Extremely useful. Even Microsoft's upcoming Vista will incorporate Mac's interface into their own.

BUT, it goes without saying that the macs' word processors are BS. Appleworks sucks. I had to buy the $300 (I think it was) Microsoft Office. But, it was worth it. You can't even move the margins on the sides of the page with Appleworks. Apple doesn't even bother coming out with a new processor because Office is the definitive. NO company can live without Microsoft Powerpoint... and I can't either. I read a couple pages back aobout NeoOffice, and I haven't heard of it before, so I can't say if it's equal to Office. But, if you're a new Mac user, go buy Microsoft Office. It's worth it. You can probably get it for free when you buy your Mac if you're a student, it's that or an iPod. (But, we all know what choice anyone will make when it comes between the two.)

"HEY! did you see that?" :woot:
"yeah, there was just lovemyboots going on and on and on and on..."
"she should shut up, huh?"
:D

I heard that! My friend just got a Mac and she said it threw her off how easy it was...almost too easy, she said. PC people I think like to overly complicate things cause that's what we're used to (I'm including myself here :) ) Nevertheless I'm getting a mac at the end of the month.

I've been a PC user for all my life but when I started college I bought a MacBook Pro and I have to say I'm loving Apple!

There really is no contest. I had a PC first in 1990. Then started graphic design career in 96. I've used both for all kinds of tasks. I truly hate PCs. I see it a little like Ford versus BMW. Both will get you where you need to go but drive on a 5000 mile trip and you will be so much more comfortable in the BMW. Macs may be a little more expensive to buy, but most people spend so much time in front of their computer that the extra cost should not be a consideration. Would you buy cheap shoes? Look at the new Leopard Os that's about to come out on Apples. It's so so cool.

I've bought a Macbook Pro this summer and it's one of my best purchases ever..so Mac for me!

I got a powerbook when i started college last year, and i really like it. Also, only had to pay like $10 for microsoft office b/c i bought it through my university. They are very simple to use, but i can't say that i really prefer it over a pc.

I grew up using PCs but finally got so frustrated with them last year that I switched to a PowerBook G4, and now I could never, ever go back. My PowerBook is 1 1/2 years old and still running like I just took it out of the box, I certainly can't say the same for my old Dell desktop when it was this age...let alone how it ran after 3 years which is when I replaced it.

My sister just recently got a new MacBook Pro with the built in iSight camera, as much as I still love my PowerBook I'm jealous now. :p

I SO can't wait for the 'iTV' to come out, ever since I got my Mac I've been wanting Apple to turn their computers into TVs, but now they're doing something even better. Someday I'll be able to have all my music, photos, movies, TV shows on DVD, etc. stored on my computer and access them instantly and wirelessly through my TV, while at the same time being able to watch and record live TV, all with one little box and the big screen TV of my choice. It makes so much more sense than Windows Media Centre too, just look under the FAQs about watching TV and using your computer at the same time...it's all so unnecessarily complicated. Apple's solutions just make sense. ^_^

i'm a mac owner and wanting to switch to PC because now i use softwares like AutoCAD and ProE a lot...
