^ You say that but I haven't yet encountered a situation where I don't have an excellent piece of software available for my needs...

Main problem I have has now been fixed by skype - cross platform communications.

Oh man, I still don't know what I want to get yet. I mean Apple's are cool looking and everything, but I've never had much luck with their document programs. Plus the school I attend now uses PCs and I'm worried about converting documents if I need to. I had the same problem at my previous school, but it was the opposite problem-I had a PC and they used Macs.

Question though: If I decide to not get a Mac what's a really good brand for laptops? Any suggestions would be helpful.

APPLE! It even has virtual PC if I ever wanted to use a PC (no chance in hell)! PCs dont have virtual mac

Just use openoffice it's free and actually better than Word.

Oh, it's the generic papers for school. I'm just not sure if the programs I'm used to using on a PC-powerpoint for example will be on an apple. I went on the website but it seems to emphasize the appearance of it's computers so I figured I'd ask people who have/had them! So yes, papers and probably presentations would be my main focus.

Though I'm also a huge photography buff and plan on buying a camera after I get the computer.

By the way, thanks for everyone who responded to my question! It's been quite helpful in letting me decide-it'll be awhile before I buy anything though! Thanks-I'd karma you all if I could!

i'm not a gamer person and definitely lesser after i switched to my imac but recently i kind of got monopoly and sudoku installed. (yeah small games first. i do not want to hog my time over long time wasting games and neglect my work)
