Apple or PC?

Once You Go Mac You'll Never Go Back

I've always been a mac user. It has it's pros and cons, but I'm very happy with it for the most part.

PC....if all of the programs I like were guarenteed to work on Mac, than I'd probably switch, since Apple electronics are fantastic.

My boyfriend used to do tech support for Sony and says their laptops are pretty bad quality, I would trust him on that one.

Not to mention the exploding Sony batteries used in many other computers including Macs...of course if they cut corners in manufacturing their products are going to be cheaper but not necessarily any good.

You kind of shoot your argument in the foot by admitting that Mac use the same components as Sony...

My argument was that Sony makes some bad products, not that Apple sells only good components. I mentioned that the batteries were used in Macs because I have a Mac, they were also used in Dell, Lenovo, Toshiba, Hewlett-Packard (though to my knowledge they did not issue a recall) and Fujitsu laptops. In any case they were still made by Sony. It's not like they were easy to avoid no matter what laptop you bought.

Anyway, as I always say it is a good idea to look at laptop ratings from organizations such as Consumer Reports and shop wisely. If you want a PC there are lots of options better than Sony and not necessarily more expensive. This is not a personal bias against PCs, I used to use one and back then would not have bought a Sony either.

So, considering that Sony (or any other PC manufacturer) use vastly higher end components than a comparably priced Mac, 'quality' means build quality? All the opinions I've heard of Sony (from pro-gamers looking to overclock, not the-moronic-ways-in-which-Joe-Public-manages-to-misuse-his-PC review sites) rate their build quality and I've never had problems with any of the Sonys I've used. So having saved the best part of £400, I don't agree.

My mac crashed...kind of...my hard drive is lost...I'm sooo mad...but what can you do? I have to go to get my files retrieved from the hard drive...so let that be a lesson...everyone always told me to back up my hard drive...seriously girlies (and guysies) if you don't have a back up saved: do it! It will save you some serious heartache (and $)...no matter what type (pc or apple)...just trying to help!

You can probably have the data retrieved for about £10-20 unless you actually destroyed the hard-drive.

Manufacturing quality.

I know...it's just a pain...b/c I'm at college and all the "apple-approved" repair centers are far...thanks for the info though

^appropriately paired to a white empty working space. the perfect apple workstation. haha.

Markus, I love the Mac p*rn.

Is there a good alternative to MS Word for Macs? I use word and it's fine, but I would like to check out other things.

markus - brilliance!

I prefer PC for now, but I know my next computer/laptop will be a Mac :)

When you can't decide between this or that, take both! I have a MacBook for its superior handling of graphics and a PC.
