Apple or PC?

POC, raw performance isn't everything...

I use PCs and Macs at work and Macs at home. I prefer my Macs because the OS is so much more logical and user-friendly, and looks so much better to me. I also think that Apple computers are the most stylish, even though I'm not a hairdresser ;) . But that's just a big bonus to me: my main work computer, a Mac, is hidden out of view and I have a non-descript flat screen connected to it.

You and others might think Windows looks nicer and feels more straightforward and natural to use.

Computer wars are pointless, it's like arguing religion almost.

But I don't, Windows is ugly as hell. I just want raw power (and low cost). I may spend most of my time reading Proust but I'd still like to be able to run 'Gratuitious Violence III: Revenge of the Chainsawed' at 60 FPS when I have friends 'round. There are good reasons for not wanting a Mac, while it may be unimportant in the grand scheme of things, I feel Mac users need to realise this...

I'm with you :p

Everyone seems to be using macs now but I preffer PCs so much more. Among many other reaons, the interface seems so much more logical and easier to use for me.

OK, you want power, you want to play games... Macs SUCK in that case, there's really nothing to argue here. I think people realise that? I don't really play games, certainly not "shoot 'em up" realtime ones. ('Gratuitious Violence III: Revenge of the Chainsawed'? Nice one :p )

To me, it doesn't really matter if it takes 20 or 22 seconds to apply a Photoshop filter to an image...

i've got an apple ibook and although it took a while to get used to it, i now wouldn't want anything else

I use both - at home I have a Mac Mini, sometimes use my b-friend's IBM laptop and in the office I work on a PC. Frankly, I wouldn't give up on my Mac for a more powerful PC. It's just the most friendly computer I've ever had. Very stable, no errors, no unexpected shut downs. I use it for editing photos, watching films, listening to music, etc. and never complained on its capacities.
I don't have problems operating Windows, but I find Mac OS far more intuitive, also much prettier (both inside and outside, so to speak). And the size - it matters too! Mac Mini is really tiny! I love the fact that the very computer is not a size of two shoe boxes but rather 5 CDs. ;)
Obviously there are also bigger (and mightier) Macs, but nevertheless I think they have always been in avant-garde as far as design is considered. I'm definitely in the Mac team!

Apple. It's more user-friendly, more stable OS, and has longer longetivity.

the only reason why Windows is still widely used is because most people are used to it.

Apple!

I own a powerbook. And I was using a PC up until this past June. And I love my mac. You really dont need a right clicker on your mouse...:p

Apple, although I sometimes miss right mouse clicking^_^

Just buy any 2-button mouse with a scroll wheel, the support is built into the system.

After struggling with my LEMON of a G5 for several months I have come to the following conclusion:

If you care more about hardware that works reliably, get a PC.
If you care more about an aesthetically pleasing OS and working environment, and better looking box, get a Mac.

I feel that Apple's quality control has completely gone to sh*t and their customer care doesn't.

I could go on but I'll spare you. :D

Disclaimer: I use, and have been using, Macs and PCs equally for many many years, and through many hardware and software iterations on both platforms.

Considering that Apple's financial performance has been nothing short of astonishing for the last couple of years (driven by iPod, of course), I find it a shame that they are willing to risk losing all these new customers by releasing expensive but poorly-made hardware and then seeming to be insensitive to customer dissatisfaction.

Not to mention the old customers, haha.

The move to Intel chips is very interesting and could either be brilliant or a disaster, depending on how they manage it.

i love my apple. To bad I'm using a windows right now because i'm in school.

i got a mac laptop this year and have never loved a computer so much. I don't have any problems with it, ever, and i just like how user friendly it is. Our apple store is great too. good customer service. my husband has a mac too, works on macs at work. we are a mac family. I have to use a PC at work (for mapping software none the less) and I HATE IT. slow moving, always locking up. ARG!!!!!!! let me quit before i go into a work related rant.

that would be my only gripe with Apple computers...but, you can use any mouse, and a lack of right clicking isn't a problem at all..:)
