Applying foundation - fingers, sponge or brush

^ Your right, I really need to get one.
do you prefer the square brush to the normal rounded one?

yes, oftentimes i use the square foundation brush...it's just an amazing tool...

Application: I dip a cotton swab into my liquid foundation...then apply it to my t-zone area(moisturized face)...afterwards i stroke it in an outward motion, covering all the areas of my face...the square brush works wonders and ensures an even distribution of the foundation every time! ^_^

I actually don't use any foundation in everyday life, because I figured most of them tend to look like a mask on your face anyway and apart from that, they stop up the pores of the skin with power/paste which easily causes impuritues.
I only use foundations when I go out in the evenings or when I know someone will want to take a photo of me at a special occasion or things like that.
Or can anyone recommend a foundation that's ..well..kidna "light". I mean, something that doesn't hinder fresh air actually reaching your face underneath? Thanks.

Thankyou! I think I'm going to get the square one too!
And thankyou so much for the application tips too, as getting liquid foundation out of the bottle is so annoying!

i never use foundation - only concealer. and i apply it with a foundation-brush! i always get a quite good result . much better than with a sponge

Oh, don't mention it. Ye, by using a cotton swab, you only use a minimal amount of the foundation itself; thusly, you won't be using excessive amounts and in the long run, it'll actually save you heaps of money! :flower:^_^

I'm getting Dermalogica's Sheer Tint Moisture. I think you need a tinted moisturizer instead of a foundation if you want your skin to breathe. Sheer Tint is oil-free and have all sorts of good things in it that (supposedly) makes your skin look great.

This is when I wear foundation, but usually when I do, if I want a thicker coverage I go with a brush (just a drug store brand and surprisingly effective). If I want a lighter coverage I just use my fingers (I know, I know, but they're clean! Really!)

Yeah, I've already tried tinted moisturizers in the past. They all were different brands, but they had one thing in common : They never concealed anything. I guess that's because they're kind of diluted, therefore the tinct/pigment can't have the effect a foundation might have, regarding concealing, as a foundation's consistence usually is thicker.

If I go out and need to dress up a bit I do use a bit of foudnation and usually I put it on with fingers.

I used to use MAC 187 brush to apply liquid foundation but I recently started to use the blue sponge I bought at Target from Sonia Kashuk. It is quite lovely and I love the finish I get from it.

I had always used sponges or fingers until a few days ago when I started using a brush. Think it is a cleaner option even though I did wash my sponges regularly. Need a few tips on what brush to use though? Any suggestions welcome. Not sure if I am using the right one.

The specific brush depends depends on the type of foundation you use but overall shu uemura makes the most amazing brushes. Mac are good as well.

I apply foundation with a brush then powder with a sponge, works like magic

I use the brush to apply foundation all over my face, a sponge to clean up the streaks (the MAC 190 is crap) and a finger to pat some concealer under the eyes.

I tried using a brush and I didn't like the result, but then again I used a pretty cheap one..but I usually use a sponge^^
