An interview with Alex and Matt I found:
- Norwegian women are delicious
- We want to go back to Norway. The gig at Quart last year was incredible, says Arctic Monkeys.
You travel around and play? How is life on tour?
Matt: It's fast.
Alex: It's impossible.
Matt: The weather could be better, though.
Alex: If it were a colour, which colour would it be?
Matt: Salmonpink. It's not bright enough to be real pink.
Alex: Usually it's pink and black, but today it's a bit faded. More like salmonpink.
The Roskilde festival is unusually muddy this year.
Do you have experience from festivals - being in the audience?
Matt: We were at the Leeds festival in England before we started playing self.
Do you remember the Quart festival last year?
Matt: Yeah, we remember Quart. It was incredible. We traveled with speedboat out in the ocean, and we saw a submarine. The weather was delicious.
And the Norwegian women?
Matt: Delicious. All over it was a huge experience for us. Did it rain there this year? I'm glad we didn't play there then. It wouldn't be the same sitting outside in the rain.
Alex: There are loads of wellies here.
How does it feel standing on the biggest stages in Europe?
Matt: I don't know. You don't really notice it, because the stages gradually get bigger. But if you look at this festival, compared to last year, the stage we're on this year is much bigger. It will show if that's the right thing to do when we see how many who comes to see us this afternoon. When we played in that tent last year, I thought it was a huge stage.
You had a quick success, do you ever have time to reflect over this sometimes?
Matt: I reflect in sections, so it's not that much. I reflect everyday, in small portions.
Alex: Kind of like Oatbix, those wheatcrackers. You know Weetabix? Those small crackers that are sold in portions? They have something called Oatbix too. It's sugar in them too. You must check them out.
What is your favourite
cereal, by the way?
My? I never eat cereal.
Alex: You don't? Ever?
Matt: I don't eat cereal that ofter either.
Alex: I like Chrunchynuts and Honeynuts.
Are they healthy or full of sugar?
Matt: No, they are full of sugar, but it's honey, so it's natural sugar.
Alex: I like Fruit'n'fibre. That one's pretty healthy.
Matt: And Sugar Puffs, but clearly: they're full of sugar.
Elton John was quoted a few months ago, when he said you got success too fast?
Alex: Did Elton John?
Matt: Well, he's The Rocket Man, and you really can't go any faster than that. So we can't get into a discussion with him.
Alex: If there's anyone who knows something about speed, it must be Elton John. With all the helicopters and that.
Do you ever miss life from before you got famous?
Matt: No. I didn't do too much at that time that's worth missing.
Alex: I miss stuff, but only in the same way like everyone else looking back at good memories from your childhood. I'm certain people at uni feel the same way.
Now our time is out. Thanks for a great interview, gentlemen.
Alex: Yeah, I'm sure you've learnt a great deal about us. But remember to buy Fruit'n'fibre.
