Arctic Monkeys

New Lyrics. I must say, I'm very impressed.

If You Were There, Beware Lyrics

If you were there beware the serpent soul pinchers
Three hundred and fifty no thank you’s and nobody flinches
Go on girl go on, give us something gruesome
We require your grief for thugs and the thief’s
As they're trying to rob the words from her gob
And take the source of the innocence
And if you were there beware the serpent soul pinchers
You can't you said she was never meant to fill column inches
And you had enough what you're trying to dig up isn't there to be dug
The thief’s and the thugs
As they're trying to be the digger graves of her sweet heart and to the point she'll comply
And I leave her on her own
If I'd of known then I wouldn't have said it
I wouldn't have said it if I'd have known
And I leave her on her own
If I predicted tears then I wouldn't have said it
I wouldn't have said it if I had known

There's a circle of witches ambitiously vicious they are
And our attempts to remind them of reason wont get us that far
I don't know what it is that they want
I don't know what it is that they want
But I haven't got it to give
She hasn't got it to give

D Is For Dangerous Lyrics

He knew what he wanted to say
But he did not want to word it
The dirty little herbert
Was thinking an escape
But the place was well guarded

The guiltyness that started
Soon as the other part had stopped

D is for Delightful
And try and keep your trousers on
I think you should know you're his favourite worst nightmare
D is for...

Desperately trying to stimulate what it was that was alright
3 quarters of an hour ago
That had led him to be in a position
And every compromission
Another freak episode

He's nearing the brink but he thinks first
The parallel universe perhaps could be the perfect scene
He's nearing the brink but he thinks first
The parallel universe perhaps could be the perfect scene
He's nearing the brink but he thinks first
The parallel universe perhaps could be the perfect scene
He's nearing the brink but he thinks first
The parallel
I think you should know you're his favourite worst nightmare

D is for delightful
and try and keep your trousers on
you should know you're his favourite worst nightmare

The Bad Thing Lyrics

Do the bad thing
Take off your wedding ring
But it wont make it that much easier
It might make it worse
The night's like a whirlwind
Somebody's girlfriend is talking to me
But it's alright
She's saying that he's not that he's gonna slap me
Or try to attack me
He's not the jealous type
I only need to get half an excuse and I'm away
But when there's no excuses that's much easier to say
I've been before and all these capers makers to the floor
Then to ignore
She's talking but I'm not entirely sure
Do the bad thing
Take off your wedding ring
But it wont make it that much easier
It might make it worse
Somebody's partner is talking to me
But I don't that is what she isn't
She murmurs things to confirm the tragedy is true
And I knew how could she not she could have anyone she wants
And I'm struggling to think of an immediate response
Like I don't mind
Be a big mistake for you to wait and help me waste your time
Really love it's fine
Said really love it's fine
And the first time it occurred that there was something to destroy
I knew before the invitation that there was this ploy
Oh but she carried on suggesting
I struggled to refuse
She said it's the red wine this time
But that is no excuse

505 Lyrics

I'm going back to 505
If it's a 7 hours flight
Or a 45 minute drive
In my imagination
You're waiting lying on your side
With your hands between your thighs
Stop and wait a sec
When you look at me like that
My darling what did you expect?
I probably still adore you
With your hands around my neck
Or I did last time I checked
I'm not shy of a spark
The knife twists at the thought that I should fall short of the mark
Frightened by the bite no it's no harsher than the bark
A middle of adventure, such a perfect place to start
I'm going back to 505
If it's a 7 hour flight
Or a 45 minute drive
In my imagination you're waiting lying on your side
With your hands between your thighs
But I crumble completely when you cry
It seems like once again you've had to greet me with goodbye
I'm always just about to go and spoil the surprise
Take my hands off of your eyes too soon
I'm going back to 505
If it's a 7 hour flight or a 45 minute drive
In my imagination you're waiting lying on your side
With your hands between your thighs
And a smile

Old Yellow Bricks Lyrics

Old Yellow Bricks
Love's a risk
Quite the little escapologist
Love's some myth
When you wish
For a thousand places better than this
You are the fugitive but you don't know what you're running from
You can't kid us and you couldn't trick anyone
Houdini look, you don't know what you're running away from
He wants to sleep in the city that never wakes up
Blinded by nostalgia
He wants to sleep in the city that never wakes up
She was enraged, by the way
That the emporers were trapped in the cage
And the days
She'd deemed dull
The empty nights reading beer bottles
You're such a fugitive but you don't know what you're running form
You can't kid us yeah you can't trick anyone
Houdini, yeah you don't know what you're running from
He wants to sleep in the city that never wakes up
Blinded by nostalgia
He wants to sleep in the city, that never wakes up
Yeah it's a loss, just because
It wasn't all you thought it was
You're the fugitive but you don't know what you're running away from
She said I want to sleep in the city that never wakes up
And revel in nostalgia
He wants to sleep in the city that never wakes up
But Dorothy was right though...

Only Ones Who Know Lyrics

In a foreign place
The saving grace was the feeling
That it was her heart that he was stealing
He was ready to impress
And the fierce excitement
The eyes are bright
He couldn't wait to get away
And I bet that Juliet was just the icing on the cake
Make no mistake, no
And even somehow he could have shown you
The place you wanted
Well I'm sure you could have made it that bit better on your own
And I bet she told a million people that she'd stay in touch
But all the little promise that don't mean much
When there's memories to be made
And I hope you're holding hands by new year's eve
They made it far too easy to believe
That true romance can't be achieved these days
And even if somehow they could have shown you the place you wanted
Well I'm sure you could have made it that bit better on your own
You are the only ones who know

Nick looks terrible in that last pic!

Half the album is on the internet since yesterday. I won't post any download links, but since they're on youtube as well, a preview:

This is: If You Were There, Beware (wrong title in video)

i've got a few of the new tracks from lj and so far "505" and "The bad thing" are my favorites. all of them are really good though

I really don't like 'The Oly Ones Who Know' it's just boring :(

The Brianstorm b-side 'Temptaion Greets You Like Your Naughty Friend' is pretty bad too, I'll just blame that on Dizzee Rascal :ninja:

The others are quite fantastic. I could write pages about them, but I won't since I haven't heard the full album. 'If You Were There, Beware' is amazing, one of their best. So much more mature, and Alex's voice has changed, for teh better. The first review of the album (uncut magazine) captured it best, it's all quite awkward, quite dark, but it leaves you wanting to hear it over and over again. And I do...

'505', 'Balaclava', 'If You Were There, Beware', 'The Bad Thing' - are GREAT! All these songs are just amazing! =)
And I agree about 'The Only Ones..', it's a bit boring, but I think it will grow on me. Just like 'Leave before..' did.

I just can't stop dancing to 'Old Yellow Bricks' so funky! :D

This should be good!

Radio 1 will be joining the band for their gig at London Astoria on 13 April and you could be there too.

Listen to Radio 1 or come back to this page from 7am on Tuesday 10 April for your chance to win tickets to the sold out show.

Broadcast Info

Arctic Monday, 16 April

Jo Whiley, 10am - Arctic Monkeys in the Live Lounge.

Zane Lowe, 7pm - Radio 1 Presents Arctic Monkeys inlcuding the London Astoria gig, and interview with the band.

They played a gig last night according to the mirror:

IT'S been the most highly-anticipated gig of the year - and boy, what a party it was.
The Arctic Monkeys came back cockier and more confident than ever for the first gig of their 12-date UK tour last night.
Lead singer Alex Turner and the boys warmed up the crowd with set opener If You Found This It's Probably Too Late - but the fans really went wild for new single Brianstorm. And Rudebox singer Robbie Williams could learn a thing or two about rapping by listening to the crowd-pleaser Teddy Picker.

Do Me A Favour sounded as eerie as a Quentin Tarantino film score while Fluorescent Adolescent, also from their forthcoming album Favourite Worst Nightmare, is a guaranteed hit. Crisp and melodic, it's the band's new Mardy Bum - only more sarky and critical as it hits out at a woman who has seen better days.
Closing with Certain Romance, this 65-minute show felt like less than five minutes with the Arctic Monkeys - and their legion of fans didn't want the cheeky boys to ever end.

THEY played: 1. If You Found This It's Probably Too Late 2. Brianstorm 3. Still Take You Home 4. Dancing Shoes 5. Ritz To The Rubble 6. Teddy Picker 7. When The Sun Goes Down 8. Do Me A Favour 9. Fluorescent Adolescent 10. Mardy Bum 11. Fake Tales 12. Circus 13. If You Were There 14. Old Yellow Bricks 15. View From The Afternoon 16. Dance floor 17. Leave Before The Light 18. Certain Romance
