Armpit hair: gross or sexy?

^Exactly. Too me it's not gross or sexy, it just..is. It exists. The only real problem i see with it is the smell factor, just wear deodorant, drink water and you're good to go. I think it's harsh to shudder and chastise people for not shaving or waxings theirs.

Well think about it, EVERYONE gets it (unless you get some sort of surgery). But why be ashamed of something that comes naturally?

Actually nope, I naturally don't have any hair in my pits (and almost none on my arms and legs). It's a great source of curiosity to everyone I meet.

Yeah, I had a friend like that, she was very fair and had no hair on her arms or armpits. Lucky b.stards!

I'm not particularly bothered by armpit hair. It's there. If people want to grow it out or remove it, it's up to them. So long as you follow basic hygiene I don't really think it's that big of an issue.

Personally I hate it when my armpit hair grows a bit long. I sweat more and me deodorant doesn't work as well. Plus I have dark hair and very fair skin so it looks like I'm carrying black cats in my armpits.

I will notice if people have armpit hair and the only reason it bothers me is because the first thing I think is, 'I could never have my armpit hair like that!' Like Priestess, I have dark hair and my skin is not very dark, so it is obvious if I don't remove it. If the hairs were lighter, finer and practically unnoticeable I most likely wouldn't bother. Same goes for hair on my legs or anywhere else.

for those who think its okay.
if you were at a restaurant in summer and the waitress wore a sleeveless top with hairy armpits and she was reaching over you to either pick up a plate or serve you.. would that still be ok??

sorry but im gaggin already and no offense :flower:

^ I'm with you. I don't know i find it extremely gross and unattractive. Sexy and hairy do not match (at least in my book)

Ewww! I don't care if you guys think I'm brainwashed by society to think that it's gross, but it's so gross to me! I hate body hair in general.. it just seems to unhygienic!

Armpit hair isn't gross to me per se, but I admit to cringing when I see a ball of hair peaking out from under someone's arm, male or female.

I heard that armpit hair actually helps with sweat and odor when you use deodorant, because there are more surfaces for the deodorant to adhere? I heard this, so correct me if I'm wrong; I haven't seen this in action in myself or anyone around me

This is true. We have armpit hair because it is more hygienic. It prevents us sweating as much and prevents odor, even without any deodorant. It shocks me that anyone can think shaving is more "hygienic" because we view it as grooming and therefore more hygienic.

I actually get very offended when people hold negative views over someone's natural body.:ninja:

This is such an interesting thread

I actually find it weird if guys shave their armpit hair...but for ladies, please shave if you're wearing sleeveless tops because I just feel that it's not a sight that other people in public should see. The least you can do is bleach it.

I would be disgusted. But then again, I would be disgusted if a male server did the same thing. There is just something unhygienic about servers - be they male or female - in sleeveless tops

As for my opinion on the "gross v sexy" debate, I don't find it attractive but "gross" is a bit harsh. It's not my cup of tea, but I'm not against it and I wouldn't judge a woman who chose to sport pit hair. Vive la difference!

its wayyy gross! I dont even like it on men! Women should know better than to let it grow! Anything more than 1 days stubble is just wrong - no matter the sex of the person!
But hey, thats just my opinion!

those pictures of hairy celebs are just soooooooo disgusting. It actually make me feel queasy - if i saw a woman in real life with that kind of foliage, I would be very likely to throw up!
I once saw a woman on the bus who clearly had never shaved her legs in 30 years who was wearing a summer dress and I had to get off at the next stop and walk the rest of the way before I threw up. Its just wrong when you can brush your body - arms, legs, bikini line, wherever - wrong!
Waxing was invented for a reason ladies! No offence to all you au natural ladies out there - im sure there are tons - its just sooooo not me!

i find armpit hair, just, i don't know, disgusting, i've been shaving since puberty and i just don't understand for a woman, why you wouldn't, i can stand a lot but .... and my boyfriend's mother doesn't, i literally gasped when she raised her arms...

Would they be serving me food with their armpits?

To answer you question, no it wouldn't bother me. . .I probably wouldn't even notice at all.

witchbaby,

the armpit would be visible while they are serving.
but to each their own.
i just know for myself that it is one of those things that are just pretty revolting to me.

hipkitten,
totally with you on whether male or female. its the same but ladies waiting are more likely to wear sleeveless tops (i hope )

any sweaty and/or exposed armpit in my face while or before i eat is gagworthy... out of control hair that might fall out onto my food (from head, arm, or pit!) is gross as well.

nevermind that most mainstream deodorants cause cancer and destroy delicate clothes.

also unless you lot are lesbians why would it matter if females consider hairy pits sexy or not? additionally ... some men like pit hairs, some/a lot of "brainwashed men do not, and i bet most don't even notice stubble once you start going, hahaha.

anyway, i also find it really interesting as it was mentioned before, that in the old days folk thought body hair/armpit hair obscene not cuz it looked horrible but because it was overtly sexy (e.g. leading theory for purpose of pit hairs = intensified pheromone 'scent' via armpit hair drives opposite sex crazy). hahahaha. :innocent:

but smells yer body emits (pits, sweat, taste) are a reflection of what you put into your body. so you can have a hairy girl who really takes care of herself not funking it up as badly as a girl who eats garbage and doesn't drink enough water.

My nboyfriend always laught at my armpits when I am inbetween epilating. Personally I don't hate it but it itches I find, so I don't like it. I think I would rather see hair than that horribe dark stubble some women have.
