Australian Street Style

I think where I live (Brisbane) fashion and style has gotten a little better with the opening of some more designer stores/precincts. However, we still have a pretty casual aesthetic. I'm kinda getting a little bit tired of being stared at for daring to wear bright lipstick during the day time.

..... how many people wearing trackpants or sport shorts and thongs can you spot when you walk down the street  how hard is it to at least put on some jeans?

I guess it's not so much about being too lazy to put on jeans.. some people just feel more comfy in them and others think they look good in them B)

quick q: is there anywhere in melbourne that stocks bernhard willhelm? :flower:

^
ye, Someday on swanston st (in curtin house, level 3) stocks the womens range of bernhard. no mens tho :( :( :( :( :(

also, in (kinda) the same vain, alphaville has a couple (literally only a couple) pieces of henrik vibskov. prob get more as new seasons rolls out...hopefully .... . . ...

Even as an Aussie...i unfortunatly have to agree with Lemeray...Longcat you're photos are awesome but i find some of the outfits too rebelliously trendy. If that makes sense.

I live in London but I'm originally from Australia. I think there are lots of unique and inspirational designers in aust, we are really lucky. It's hard to see what you -do- have until you move away though.

and as to trend clones - I think it's like that in most cities.

In australia there are lots of independent retailers in most cities (stocking Aust and international designers), and it is not too hard to find something 'unique' for a reasonable price. I find living in england most towns and high streets are completely over-run by chain stores - topshop, h&m, zara, etc. Don't get me wrong, they are okay, but it is much harder to find something that isn't totally mass produced and for a reasonable price!

I've been living in NYC for a year now, and I absoloutely agree 100% with everything you said. zara, topshop,h&m ahhh please our clothes are much better quality, better variety and better valued.
