mlsnts - i agree! im from melbourne too and theres a lot of variety and people have different styles which look good on them! I love seeing people wear good fashion!! Not so much the people that wear the typical trends though..

I find that typical girls in Sydney (which is where I live) have wardrobes that consist of cheap Supre/Sportsgirl/Witchery/Country Road basics, designer jeans, expensive Aus designer tops, skirts and dresses, accessories from markets or secondhand stores, random vintage pieces, designer shoes (such as MJ) and European designer bags (eg Louis Vuitton or Gucci).

That's just what I have noticed working in retail

Ooh and forgot to add, in summer, and warm winter days, Havianas with everything... Seriously! I would estimate that about 1 in 3 people have at least one pair... at university in my classes, usually most people are wearing them at any given time

who doesnt wear havaianas these days? i have like 4 pairs and still going, their hot. Tsubi, stevie in greville, bettina liano, all hot (especially those new bettina ace jeans in white with the navy triple stitch, their gorgeous). I'm only young, in year 12 this year in melbourne, but majority of the girls and guys i know have great style and spend alot of cash on clothes. i cant stand 'emos' though, ugh they look disgusting. however, im loving fluro and headbands, and who keeps saying guys have no style? all the guys i know dress really well. I think its a private school thing though in particular, and knowing to stay away from cheap shops like jay jays etc. i also think club scene and music (house/dance/hard house etc) is alot to do with how many people dress in melb. Go down chapel st and you'll see a big variety but alot of it is towards really clubby, bright, designers. Hit up seven or motel on thursday and friday nights and you'll see great style. Loving snakeskin points on guys as well just by the way. i love that opshops are really in at the moment, if you can find the good stuff. melbournes got great style...

Yes, that puts it perfectly I think!!! And the ace jeans are great - I have the black ones with the white stitching! Although I worry that some of these labels are simply becoming, too trendy.

im loving fluro and headbands,

no...headbands and fluro have been done over for at least a year now. that fad should crawl into a hole and die now.. everywhere u walk all u see is little yr 8 stevie sluts dressed head to toe in the sh*t. stevie has really gone downhill in the past 8months. its no longer original out there.. all lydon can whip up is a bright t shirt with stevie printed all over it these days. look like a good damn walking advertisment. you can get alot better stuff for ur money than spending 100$ on a stevie tshirt n looking like a clone. its only a more expensive supre or industie these days. check out a few newer designers material boy has some great stuff comming in these days defs gunna b up there with tsubi n sh*t in a year or so. leopold and saint auguestine academy also have some great lines out this year.
