AZ Factory S/S 2022 Paris

The tears started when the Lanvin Parachute dress walked out, and they didn't stop. What an exceptional celebration of one of the most talented and treasured designers of our lifetime.

Observations:
  • I'm shocked there wasn't an immediate standing ovation at the end. What gave???
  • The Hermes dress should have been tackled off the runway
  • Was REALLY hoping the Vivienne Westwood would do a version of the SS07 Lanvin Holographic Face Print dresses, like her iconic Marlene Dietrich denim. That would have been full full circle.
  • Are there plans to sell the tribute dresses?

Will there be captions to the photo, who is the designer? Beautiful show)

The production of this show was spectacular, as was the majority of the looks. Bruno Sialelli's one was the most heartbreaking. Of course, it was obvious with its references, but at the same time, there was something truly poetic about the movement of that dress. It was also interesting from the point of view of the house of Lanvin. It seems that Bruno fully accepted Alber's impact on the house. I also liked the look from Dries. It was crazy but in an amusing way. This time even Maria Grazia delivered and, what's even more surprising, Matthew Williams tried to do something related to the heritage of Elbaz. The rest of the looks was equally good and cute. It really could have been worse given the current state of fashion.

However, treating a tribute show solely as a marketing opportunity should be a disgrace. But I should have expected nothing more than a bare minimum from the likes of Daniel Lee or Gabriela Hearst. It looks like they don't care about anything but their own gain.

The AZ Factory team did a wonderful job. The collection was wearable and dramatic at the same time. The look on Amber and the little performance were both incredibly touching. But does anyone know whether they are going to expand the brand? Or will it close?

I shed a tear when the Bruno’s look was coming out - that reminds me of what got me interested in fashion in the first place, which is that spring 07 collection.

Having said that, I think some designers are just being disrespectful to Albee’s legacy. This is supposed to be a tribute show to the fantastic work Alber has done for fashion, so I’d expect them to incorporate signature elements from Alber while maintaining their own aesthetics; but Daniel Lee, for example, just redid his Bottega thing without making a single reference from Alber. I mean if you don’t want to put in the efforts, you might as well just pull out. Period.

Yes I absolutely agree with you, in some desiners creations there is no Albert Elbaz at all, especially in Bottega's ( sorry, I absolutely don't understand, what this dress and shoes from previous collections do there)

What's the concept behind this show? Other designers designing pieces to pay tribute to Alber Elbaz?

I think Christopher John Rogers was the worst offender. I didn't even have to look at the list for reference, lol. Oh, and I didn't even look at Viktor & Rolf's - they've literally sent that down the runway before.

But overall I enjoyed it. A fun tribute that just reminded me how much I miss his Lanvin.

So many great looks that paid respect to Alber. I thought designers like Jonathan, Nicolas, Tomo, Donatella and Olivier really tied in their brand’s vision with Alber’s signature style; the pieces are recognizably Alber x Lanvin, but with a twist. And of course, Bruno’s tribute was very touching.

And on the contrary, people like Gabriela, Nadege and (especially) Iris should be ashamed of themselves. Their looks came straight from their runways and had no business being part of this lineup.

wow I didnt expect anything while the video started.....This was amazing, what a fun lineup and great production! Amazing set and music. I wasnt bored one single moment.
And the designers really had fun taking part in this beautiful project.

Wow, didn't expect my favorite show of the season would come at the very end! Formidable!
