Balenciaga Resort 2006

Consumable Balenciaga, two words which I never thought would be together. But the new heads of Gucci Group must love this collection, it's consumable but it seems to lose the essence of Balenciaga that Ghesquiere gave.

The structureless design of that dress is so unGhesquiere, maybe it's just me.

Thats what I was thinking! But thats what makes it so desirable!!!

Btw, who is the model on that cover?

no idea, but she's a doll no?
btw, wwd web subscribtion is not that expensive at all Pastry

The gown is :o gorgeous. I love the silhouette and the muted prints and the colors. It actually reminds me a tad bit of the costumes of Amidala (Natalie Portman) in the the second Star Wars, however this is 100% wearable, which Ghesquiere gets right with this pre-collection; balance of art and commerce. The first outfit is great - straight right off his S/S '05 collection. The rest, yes, can be seen as derived from Chloe, NY designers, etc.

So the detailing on the second and third outfits are beads? Not so sure how I feel about that; I like the patterns they create but I think it would have worked better if it was printed or stained on the fabric, not beaded.

It doesn't do anything for me..
The shape of the first dress reminds me of Riccardo Tisci's white dress in the attachment below..which is more modern and far less theater costumish..

Hanne, I see the connection... interesting.
The 3rd outfit appeals to me. The 2nd one has a great shape and form to it... but I wouldnt wear it.

I like the last picture that jacket  except from that im not wowed'

I love how he uses Ann-Catherine Lacrioux and Anouck Lepere.

I like the second look (Anouck).

But the last look (on Ann-Catherine) is very Helmut Lang.

I knew this would be good. I just love Balenciaga. I think my favorite piece is actually the jacket/cardigan thing in the last picture.
Mine too, although it doesn't feel very Balenciaga-esque. The jacket from the cover is very good too, great cutting but it looks quite simple. I just love the lace (?) from under the sleeves. I didn't expect to see him taking this turn, I'm not sure if I can get used to the baroque stuff :ermm:

Pastry the model is Irina Lazareanu

thanks for posting, lena.
i find the first dress too costumish, too agree with you hanne.
and i don't really feel the colours at all.
except for the cover look that is very simple, fresh and clean:heart:

i dont understand what the first dress has to do with the last two outfits... they look like they come from separate collections  the second dress is nice enough, though...

Thats not Anouck Lepere, but Id love to know who she is. She really is a doll!

Yeah there's not a lot of structure in any of the clothes but it is resort, what should one expect?

I completely agree, Seraphelle. Resort is meanto be extremely marketable, conseqeuently there is less room for experiments.
