Oh are we? Most of us are probably just audience.
However customers decide what to buy and what not to buy. You don't like a certain designer's current work - go to another.

^ That kind of defeats the entire purpose of the show threads though. The beautiful thing about fashion, or any creative medium, is that anybody can judge it if they want, regardless of whether or not their opinion matters or if criticizing a collection is an "important" thing to do with one's time.

One thing i will say about this collection, is that I love the jackets! The tuxedo blazers are gorgeous, and the sequinned jacket is incredible! The rest, i think it has been said!

After going through this collection I'm really disappointed. I was becoming a huge fan of Balmain (and still am) and was really excited for this show, but it's too 80s for me with the leopard print, lightening bolts, etc. I loved the sexy, etheral feeling I got from his past collections, but I didn't get the same feeling this time. Oh well there's always S/S 09!

I will say though that I loved the hair and make-up on the models. They all looked beautiful and did wonders for the clothes.

I like it a lot, i'm a fan of leather, 80s & animal prints so probably biased. The mini dresses are pretty fierce. Not a fan of the slits on the gowns though, just looks very out of place.

i love the rock vibe this collection has..
yes, the zebra prints may be a bit much BUT
those don't make up the whole collection.

i don't think they strayed too far from past seasons or that this collection is tacky.
when they made their re-appearance in spring 07 (i really don't know their history before that) the clothes had an edginess to them.
fall 07 had a rock & roll feel to it, it's nothing new for balmain...
this collection took the edginess to another level, and it works.

Im disappointed mainly cause I only became aware of this line during ss 07 and it's already taken a direction that is far from what I find attractive. I was really looking forward to this show...

I have to admit that despite some really trashy attempts (the lace and "rodarte"-inspired minis), there is some really cool stuff in here. The little jackets with gem detailing, worn with a loose tank are very easy to wear for a young, cool girl. I especially love the zebra jacket and the white one covered with stones.

I'm not a fan of the pants (too Hot Topic), and some of the minis leap beyond the line of bad taste, but as for the rest, I see this is a flashier companion to Alexander Wang. They seem to target the same kind of girl, the model and the girls who can dress like them. That's fine and all, but Balmain is going to have to expand it's offerings if they plan on making any money.
