Best Fashion Shows of the 2010s

Sorry, shouldn't a separate thread not be made (perhaps closer to the end of the year) for the best/defining collections of the 2010s? This one seems to be dedicated to most impressive shows (as spectacles), which is totally valid and interesting. Of course the two concepts of collections and shows often go hand in hand, but not always.
I might run a similar thread near the end of the year, but what I meant with this thread was your favorite collection, not the sole show. For me it's the same thing.

That's what made this list difficult. I was tempted to list my favorites, but I had to consider what was groundbreaking and fashion forward. If they were "spectacles" then so what? If they were good, then they were good.

I'm curious though, what do you consider as the best? Models with their penis hanging out in a dingy parking garage? Or any other of the ridiculous stunts and "designs" the smaller designers have thrown down a catwalk?

well, the penises hanging out at Rick Owens didn't hurt, but I'm more interested in the collections per se, still doing my own, it's hard! Approaching the end of the year that closes off a decade I'd like to know this forum's favorite models, favorite outfits, the looks that defined the decade, the decade in designers and favorite collections/fashion shows.

I got it totally wrong then :lol:

I only picked rtw otherwise it would have been too complicated for me !

1. Fendi SS11: I still have something for this collection.

2. My only Chanel moment was Cruise 2011. That dress worn by Toni Garrn at 12:45 is still a dream.

3. Prada Spring 2011 : Nothing to add

4. Balmain Fall 2011 : Before it started to fall off

5. Blumarine Fall 2012 : OK I might be the only one here but I have something for tacky Blumarine circa 2009-2012.

Sidenote : Looking back at this whole decade, I'm impressed by how the industry has changed in the last 4 years especially regarding diversity in the castings !

There are many, many shows deserving to be here but there are three that comes to mind immediately

Chanel Métiers d'Art 2011.12 Paris-Bombay
Breathtaking set and garments, everything here looks so luxe and ostentatious. At this point fashion started to realize that by going global there is a lot of potential in new emerging markets. This show and the RTW FW 2013 are proof of just that.

Christian Dior HC FW 2012.13
Highly anticipated, surprisingly innovative, and a total game changer. The venue, the soundtrack, the beautiful and ugly designs, the dress that made Anna Wintour take off her glasses to look closely. It's Raf at his best and the most iconic Dior show from this decade.

Gucci FW 2017.18
The eeriness, the decadence of it all. Extremely modern, trendsetter and creative. This show represents what has our society become today.

Céline F/W 13.14
It was the show that made me a believer in Pheobe Philo, up until that point I had liked pieces here and there, but I found her shows kind of cold. This one really seemed leagues above all else.

The pastel shades, the ingenious interpretation of that Geoffrey Beene coat, the skin thight boots and the understated jewellry. An amazing show and Samuel Hayes voice was an unusual yet clever choice for the soundtrack.

Celine Spring 2010
Celine Spring 2011
Marc Jacobs Spring 2011
Chloe Fall 2010 (Hannah McGibbon)
Pucci Fall 2010

The fashion from the early part of the decade was far more exciting and memorable than the middle and current portion sadly.

*edit* I noticed even other members largely chose collections from the early 2010s , so something clearly went wrong in the industry after this time.

Plato's Atlantis
Plato's Atlantis is iconic for every reason except for the clothes. It was an amazing production. However, I was underwhelmed by what was shown. The geometric prints were already done previously and more successfully. This collection was very on trend with the Aquatic theme of that season, so it made sense for the time. Unfortunately it looks quite dated now. However, it continues to dazzle only as a show.

^^I, too, do not care for the Plato’s Atlantis collection. Never have, never will.

It was so cold...but also so cheesy! The little puff sleeve, pouf skirt dresses with kaleidoscope scale prints are really tacky (ie, the look on Kasia Strauss). Plus I hated the hair and makeup, the casting (not a good modeling era), and don’t get me started on the armadillo shoes.

And maybe what’s worse is the effect it all had....having Gaga so closely tied with this McQueen collection was the beginning of the end of the whole industry...it opened to floodgates for the uninformed public to have an opinion and “interest” in fashion.

I'd love to see your favorite collections.

The Nicolas collections at Balenciaga.

Probably not a popular choice but the Givenchy collection with the panther prints with the colors of purple, black, and yellow. I believe it was the Fall 2011 but I could be wrong. That collection made an impression on me some reason.

Wasn’t it about shows?
My favorite collections are totally different from my favorite shows...

Well, I thought it was all about collections. I don't mind about shows -that's why I don't like Chanel: big venue, big cast, biggest budget but the clothes...meh-. Thinking about clothes and collections is the reason of my very long list. Now I want to know yours!
