Chapped Lips

Help! Can anyone give me advice on how to care for chapped lips? No matter what season it is, my lips are always chapped. Any products or recommendations are greatly appreciated!

aquaphor works great..... i know they say it is for dry skin but my dermo gave it to me for severe chapped lips and it works great, i am hooked!

you can get it at any drugstore in the lotion section. it is made my eucerin.

moisturize your lips liberally before going to bed

i hate waking up with dry, chapped lips

yes i put it on heavy every night before bed....

now what do you all think abotu this theory..... a friend once told me that some lip balms work against you... in other words your lips become dependent on the moisture the blam provides and you need more and more and more.... so you buy more and more... she used the aveda lip stuff as the example.... i have not found this to be true but funny enough my husband and I were in colorado and the air is so dry there and we were both chapped as hell but ever since then he has been chapped and uses that burts wax that he started using in vail but I was not using it.. he cannot be without the stuff and i am fine... ??????

i like carmex in the pot. it works wonders. i will swear by it!

I was on medication that made my lips EXTRA DRY.. always cracked :yuk: and once I strated using Pocket Vaseline . If ur in LOndon, boots (chemist) have them, they're pocket sized... and they're obviously not sticky :P

nothing better than Kiehls lip balm

Vaseline is THE miracle worker! I swear!

You might want to try Avon's Planet Spa lip balm, which contains African Shea Butter. This stuff is great!!!!

I used to be seriously addicted to Carmex. Now I find it and Kiehl's to be too messy. Neutrogena SPF 15 lip moisturizer is my current fave.

All of the above mentioned products are great. What I find helps me though also in conjunction with using a lip balm is to soflty exfoliate away the dead dry skin. I usually do it in the shower with a soft washcloth usually like every other day. This seems to help loads.

I've heard the theory about lip balms working against you. I'm kinda suss of the Hemp Bodyshop one that I have been using. But have just re-found Blistex which is FAB, my all time fav. Also AndiMAC's suggestion of exfliating seems to help. My friend just suggested using your toothbrush in the morning when your brushing (might be a bit rough thou...). I'm set to give it a go so will keep you posted. :ninja:

I suggest good, old fashioned vaseline every night when you go to bed.

I suggest scrubbing with your toothbrush while u wash your teeth...but dont eat anything salty or spicy caus eyou will wake up the neighborhood!

I suggest eight our cream by Elisabeth Arden or Kiehls lip balm

Smith's Rosebud Salve works wonders for me!! I used to be on meds which heavily dried out my lips and my dermo got me to use Prevex, which is a hand cream but it worked wonders at the time!!!! ;)
