Bitten by Sarah Jessica Parker

^ I agree. Some of us grew up in those neighborhoods and managed to make it out alive.

I remember before I went to Queens NY and everybody was saying...oh my god, you're not staying in MANHATTAN, as if somehow Queens was some downtrodden thug area. Queens is great...

That said there are places in London for example which are pretty terrifying and a lot of violence *does* occur so...depends on where you're talking about really.

My country (the Netherlands) was giving her line more attention in an entertainment program yesterday. Sarah Jessica Parker is a great actress and I'm sure that she's doing everything for her line but the fashion industry is getting a trend for the rich and famous :( I think SJP is judged with that title.

From what I've seen I quite like the line, her quote 'fashion is not a luxury' is a good statement  Let's see how long her line lasts and if we can say a few years later that people are still wearing 'Bitten'

i went into steve and barrys in manhattan to check out the bitten merchandise last week. i also wanted to see how the special "project runway" dress was executed.

to my surprise there were still plenty of dresses in store. the execution was awful. the dress looked like a sack. the material was awful. it didnt look much like the dress on TV.

how the dress looked on TV (bravotv.com)

the rest of the bitten stuff looked terrible. much WORSE quality than old navy or walmart. the stuff also looked old and dated. could it be that they are taking old steve and barrys merchandise from years back and putting the bitten tag on it?

That's really disappointing, Lucy, because the dress was quite lovely on the show. :(

Did they have the little vest as well?

they had the vest also..however it did not look plaid. the dress also ran HUGE.

it might be the most unflattering thing ive ever seen in my life...

No, I doubt it. Steve & Barry's has only been selling 'trendy' clothing for a few years - someone would have caught on to what they're doing by now.

I actually Went into steve and barry’s, and the bitten line wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. For someone who can only afford clothes in that range, it’s a pretty good and fair deal for them. I even picked up a “peace and love” tee and a “it’s cool” tee. I don’t’ wear them out much, but they are comfortable.

I went to the Steve & Barry store in my area and checked out the Bitten line. I like it. And I love the fact that it is very affordable. Some of the styles were not cute to me. But some of the things were very cute.I did get a few things from jeans to jewelry that i felt were cute and comfortable.

I get a lot of compliments on my basic tees by Bitten. I have them in practically every color (and I even have double of some colors). IMO, they are just as good as the basic tees at the Gap but are cheaper (unless you are fortunate enough to snatch some up on clearance at the Gap).

I made the trek to Steve & Barry's yesterday to check out the coats I'd been seeing in magazines. To my dissappointment no coats were out. I don't know if they sold out or were never put out to begin with.

I ended up leaving with two pairs of the Venus Williams Eleven sneakers to workout in. I also got a pair of the Stephon Marbury shoes and a hoodie for my brother. I got a cute green sweater and blue henley from Bitten plus several pairs of underwear. Total cost: $105.00. Nice:smile:

I knew this dress was not going to fly and I don't know why Sarah went with this design. I also went to Steve and Barry's and just as you stated there were plenty of them still on the rack. Nobody was touching them. The design is not flattering at all -- on any body type!

I saw the dress at the store today and was extremely disappointed. The material was horrible. I assumed that it would be more of a modal type material, but it was so stiff. They're having a sale at the stores were everything is $8.98, but I wouldn't even buy it for that price.

That makes me extremly disheartened... I thought that the "Project Runway" look was going to be fabulous. I looked at some Bitten looks online and I liked it for a causal day. I could maybe layer it. With utter candor, it wasn't the best. It was more BLAH! I love her show though. I'm watching right now. :D

With all these Celeberities coming out with clothing lines I can't help but wonder what they would feel like if Designers started taking their leads in movies, made CDs, and went on tours.:woot:

I'm not surprised to hear this about this line, as disappointing as that may be. It always seems that this is the way it goes---especially when it comes to taking "ideas" from television shows/contests (like PR) and mass producing them.

I bought the red curdoroy coat. Looks ok, and definitely a good buy for the price.

I was really excited about this line just due to her philosophy on design being accessible for everyone (making sizes 2-22 and shoes 5/6-11 etc.) but when I went to the store to check out the actual clothes I was a little let down. A lot of the sweaters were ridiculously scratchy, cheap acrylic.. The project runway dress definately had some fit issues and the fashion fabric was stiff and unflattering/uncomfortable. I ended up picking up a couple basic polo shirts with varying details that I'm very happy with so far. the line itself was just full of basics which is great in the price range, but I thought a lot of the shirts I could have gotten for just as cheap and better quality elsewhere, some of the tops were too promotional and nobody had touched them.. lots of basic skirts, dresses. The coats were cute, but there were only three in the whole store and not in my size (hopefully they're in the back waiting to be stocked?)
Overall I felt like I was let down, there were a lot of 'deconstructed' looks that really just screamed cheap quality finishing and I'd be surprised if some of those garments made it out of one wash without being completely distorted, shredded, and warped.
Again I'm glad I got my polo type shirts, they're sturdy and cute but it's not anything I couldn't have got anywhere else realy.

Also I didn't even know Amanda Bynes designed a junior line for Steve and Barry's, but my younger cousin picked out some cute ballet flats and a couple tops and skirts.
Overall I was a little let down but I hope in the future she'll learn to be a better design and they'll increase the quality of their peices.

I still think the line is good for what it is I mean come on guys seriously your not buying Armani here..
