...sorry to be so specific dear...
but all the details make all the difference imo...
it's that sort of attention to detail that sets people apart...
here is a basic outline...
jumper and sweater is the same thing as far as i know...
sweatshirts...
these are traditionally made for athletic activities...
and are made of FLEECE...
that is the big thing..it is the raglan sleeve (the way the shoulder seam is diagonal)
and the crew neck (round neck) and the FLEECE (thick cotton that is regular knit on the outside and fuzzy on the inside) and the banded neck waist and cuffs...
and then that weird little V stitch at the neck...
NO hood...
a hooded sweatshirt has now gotten it's own classification as a 'hoodie'...
a pullover...well...
that is what it sounds like...and is basically something that defies being identified as either a sweater/jumper or a sweatshirt...etc...
like the aa tops which LOOK like sweatshirts but are a different fabric so cannot truly be called sweatshirts...
anyway...
anything that is cashmere, wool, silk...V nk...not blouson...not banded at the waist...etc...
those are NOT sweatshirts...those are sweaters/jumpers...
very classic...but not sporty...
you could fashion a sweatshirt out of silk or something and i have seen it done...especially in the 80's when sweatshirts were first styled as fashion items..
silk sweatshirts that had banded knit waists, cuffs and collars were pretty big at one point...
because you got that sport look but the silk was thin and draped nicely..
plus you could get all sorts of really strong saturated colour....
i remember going to a sweet 16 wearing a bright turquoise silk sweatshirt with a swishy polka dot mini skirt, tights and red patent flats (very much the christopher kane silhouette, but not so stiff)...
