Budget Friendly Makeup

^ Speaking of Avon gel liners, their Glimmersticks for the brows are wonderful. I'll never use anything else.

And I had NO idea that cosmetics were so highly-priced over seas. And I thought they were bad here!

yeah its amazing - i have gone into department stores in spain and seen revlon and l'oreal alongside lancome etc. the prices for revlon and lancome are 25%-50% more expensive.

I think it's my crappy eye liner (Victoria's Secret), but it always runs. I was in a play and the bright, hot lights, the running between scenes, and sweat made big black/grey circles/bags under my eyes.

My friend Alisha recommended Boing Eyebright To Go from Ulta.

ulta.com

It's a reasonable price, $12. But does it work?

Can anyone recommend me a good product that'll keep my make-up from running? :flower:

(I'm not sure what a product like this is called so I didn't know what to search for!)

That product from ulta is from benefit, and i know bo-ing is their eye concealer, and eyebright is a concealer like product that's supposed to brighten your eyes. the concealer is decent, but i haven't tried the eyebright. She probably recommended concealer because i can sometimes act like a primer & help eye makeup from running.

to achieve better results, i think you should get a better eyeliner and/or a primer for eye makeup.

for eyeliner i like:
- smashbox limitless eyeliner (sephora has a set called walk the line with the full size eye liner, their gel eyeliner and cream shadow for $25, so I feel like that counts as budget friendly? here's the link - http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P268210&categoryId=B70
- makeup forever aqua eyes (it's waterproof! but i feel like it's a bit harder in texture)
- any waterproof drugstore brand eyeliner may be worth a try? maybe the newish covergirl eyeliner that has that ad with drew barrymore?

for primer try:
- nars smudgeproof eyeshadow base
- urban decay primer potion (lots of color options, but i haven't tried it personally)
if you check out temptalia.com she always uses one of these for her makeup looks, and has in depth reviews of both.

there are also products out there that are supposed to "seal" your makeup. off the top of my head, i can think of makeup forever's "eye seal" and benefit's "She laq". i haven't tried this type of product before though.

In Australia we pay the equivalent of about $23 USD for L'oreal and Revlon lippies, the cheapest thing of those brands we can buy are lipglosses at $20! Colorstay foundation is about $37, ridiculous!

what makeup is available at pharmacies in australia? boots cosmetics? or are revlon and loreal at department stores in australia?

We don't have Boots Cosmetics here but the equivalent is Priceline which basically sells the same stuff excluding the high-end brands. Relvon is sold everywhere including department stores. Prices are always ridiculous in Australia, it doesn't help that high-end brands are inflated like crazy aswell. I'm sure that's the same for other non-US countries. It makes me cry when I see US prices on certain products, haha.

^That's why ebay is my best friend! Even with the shipping costs it's always cheaper :flower:

There's a new video from gossmakeupartist on "beauty on a budget":

I love the Cover Girl lash blast mascaras. The wand is great so I don't get any clumping. I'd buy it over expensive mascara any day.

I like the Covergirl Natureluxe gloss balms. My favorites are hibiscus, anemone, and peony. The colors are sheer and the product is moisturizing. I think they are perfect for the warm weather.

Rimmel's GlamEyes is the drugstore lovechild of Chanel's Inimitable and it's only $7-8. after finding out about it's existence I literally have no excuse to spend $30 on Inimitable (which IS the perfect mascara but GlamEyes gets really really close).

Edit: the brush is annoying though. I little trick I have is throwing away the old brush and using my old Chanel Inimitable brush instead. ;)

I also love Wet n Wild lipsticks haha. I switched from being a make-up artist to become a stylist, but still share this with any women who end up in my cosmetic chair. PERFECT pigments. Seriously.

This palette from Sleek looks very yummy, I have a hard time finding purples that I like...

Oh So Special:

And as always they include some matte shades which are really lovely, I've used the ones in my Storm palette quite a lot!

Storm is delicious. I use it all the time! It's better than my MAC eye shadows  Equal amount of fallout, more pigment in the Sleek eyeshadows. :D The only eyeshadows I have found that are better are the matte Bobbi Brown ones.

Some of my fav drugstore/cheaper products

Lipbalm/Care- Nivea touch of Milk & Honey

Eyeliner- Rimmel Flash Eyeliner (it's like a pen eyeliner, i love it, i use it everyday even though i have one's from mac and lancome, i always come back to this one)

Revlon has amazing lipstick's , i love them.

Rimmel eyebrow pencil is my favourite.

&& L'oreal has the best mascaras IMO

I so wish we had Revlon, I also hear good things about their lipsticks.

-Physicians Formula Mineral Wear makeup. It's around $12
-Milani Liqui'fye eyeliner. The best black I have ever used if you want a super dark waterline. It's around $7
-Revlon Colorstay eyeliner in Black when I want my liner to last. It's around $7-8
-Revlon Colorstay concealer. Lasts all day.
-Maybelline Full'nSoft mascara. The only mascara I keep coming back to. I love the wand.
-Anything from NYX especially their $2 pigments and glitters. They also have great eyeshadows
-Rimmel blushes and lipgloss
-Anything from Jordana and Jesse's Girl
-Milani had awesome eyeshadow singles years ago that were comparable to MAC.
-Palladio eyeshadows and lipgloss
-Loved the Loreal Blush Delice. They were these little blushes in a tiny square container.
-Ardell fake lashes and Duo to glue them
-Burt's Bees lipbalm
-Essence is a newer line that I see at Ulta. I have their eyebrow pencil and a few nailpolishes and it's all super cheap.

it's not unfounded - their lipsticks are fantastic and the moment they arrive where you are, you should get some! i'm willing to say their matte ones especially, because they are way more hydrating than mac.

anyway, my favourite budget make-up:

- maybelline's gel liner.
- no 7's illuminator (more of a bargain when boots does that £5 off voucher).
- revlon's colourstay palettes.
- barry m's nail polishes.
- rimmel's exaggerate liquid eyeliner.

I just bought the Maybelline 24 hour concealer, it's quite good.

I take this back. I tried it again today and noticed that there is still some purple left under my eye. Boo!:yuk:
It would probably work fine for someone who doesn't have bad genetic dark circles.
