NEW YORK, December 18, 2007 – Christopher Bailey’s Burberry collections are almost always built around the brand’s signature outerwear, and pre-fall was no exception. This time, his concept was couture: Coats were ruched, beaded, piped with patent leather, and otherwise manipulated into very special objects indeed. Underneath, there was a loosened-up silhouette: still fitted at the top, but fuller at the bottom. A popular bell-shaped dress from Spring was reinterpreted in soft layers of black silk and mesh. In another riff, Bailey whipped up a spongy crackled copper coat that looked and felt not unlike last season’s neon neoprene.

I like this collection a lot! There are a couple coats that are... interesting, but it is such a wearable collection. You just get the high fashion vibe that was missing from several other designers this season.^_^

I dont get the crazy about burberry. for me it seems predictable and always the same...it looks really like fw0405 doesnt it?

Have to have this coat or one like it. Have been dying for one that is ruched up and down!

And no, this doesn't look like fall/winter '07. All the heavy metal accents are gone and so are the heavier materials. The coats are longer but the layering and the styling remain the same... and very, very marketable in my opinion!

We'll see a lot of this at Zara in 6 months. lol...

hmm... the coats are interesting...
love those shoes though!
thanks for posting!

Bailey's designs are starting to all look identical. On one hand, it's great that he's created such a signature look, but on the other, he doesn't really evolve it...

He's been repeating himself for years now and it's become very, very noticeable.

The retake on the trench worn open with a belt over a vintage inspired jacquard shift/babydoll layered with tights, knits, hats, scarves and chunky platforms. We've been seeing it from him for years and when stores like Zara are carrying much more affordable versions of all of this for the past few seasons, I can't help but wonder, what's the point?

Some very nice pieces and details. The shapes and silhouettes are great too. ^_^

i completely agree, however, the signature look he has made for himself is one that i happen to love. he just has that "structure + femininity" thing down just right. ^_^ there are many looks here that i just adore!

Love it!!! Gotta start loading up my closet with heavy skirts..

Nobody does fall better than Burberry, but like others I agree that its VERY repetitive and weve all seen this before. But I like how Chris has trademarked his coats and skirts. And those shoes are very good looking too.
