To think they dumped costa and zuchelli... it’s just so corny; what is this but a surface pull of Americana symbolism and pop culture steeping in the cynical irony you see everywhere else today? Granted costa/zuchelli were not bulletproof in execution but one thing I always looked forward to was the adherence to the spirit and codes of the house, especially as it existed in opposition to... sh*t like this.

I like the blazers and the plissé skirts, but the dresses looks so unflattering.. If it doesn't look good on models (I mean the ones worn by Kiki, Sora and so on) how will they look on "normal people"?

Ugh, thank you for this! I must admit towards the end Costa and Zucchelli's campaigns failed to intrigue me. But I still bought into what Zucchelli sent down the runway. It was his unique vision, but he made sure that it aligned with the house codes.

Also surprised at the idea that sportswear is synonymous with CK, something I've read here and elsewhere. While Klein did initially add sportswear to the brand in his early years, the core appeal was still easy, wearable glamour and luxury for the new American working woman. It no surprise that Klein's brand reached it's peak during the Mirabella years. People mocked that she was the 'queen of beige', but that practical and understated approach to fashion helped shaped the 'American' aesthetic in fashion as we know it. And Klein was one of the few brands to became the go-to for that aesthetic. Especially considering the garish excess of Lacroix and the others.
So I'm not really sure how what Raf is doing fit's in with CK....

Sportswear is an American fashion term originally used to describe separates, but which, since the 1930s, has come to be applied to day and evening fashions of varying degrees of formality that demonstrate a specific relaxed approach to their design, while remaining appropriate for a wide range of social occasions. The term is not necessarily synonymous with activewear. Sportswear has been called America's main contribution to the history of fashion design,[1] developed to cater to the needs of the increasingly fast-paced lifestyle of American women

I have to watch it again, I'm a bit confused - not in a good or bad way. Just seems like a lot was going on

cathy horyn's review of the chanel show:
He had his models trek barefoot across the sand, as if headed for the ultimate beach bachelorette party, and the nonchalance of the gesture conveyed the lightness of the clothes. I would also argue that the sight of 80 or so young women enjoying themselves in their Chanels makes you want to join them, in a way, say, that a skirt with a shark bite doesn’t.

no idea what's going on between them but i'm happy she's finally coming to her senses regarding raf simons

why is he basing collections on horror movies: first friday the 13th and now jaws? very gimicky for calvin klein

You know, if Calvin Klein asked himself, "Geez, I wonder what my clothes look like today," I wonder if he ever looks online and thinks "Ugh, why did I bother?"

Poor Raf. His career went from great, to good, to questionably okay, to just plain awful.

In less than 10 years...
That’s terrible.

bit pedantic here but he walked intact into the gates of hell in the middle of 2005. I know it sounds more dramatic to say he's been in freefall in a surprisingly short amount of time but 15 years is actually a smooth, gradual way to fundamentally screw up your sense of identity, especially if the process of middle age is involved..

A somehow controversial statement but one that I sort of agree with. His brand was never the same after the S/S 05 collection and the Jil Sander gig definitely accelerated that deterioration.

At Calvin Klein he's fallen victim of his own hype and his rather annoying obsession with artsy gimmick.
