Carey Mulligan has revealed that she "burst into tears" after Baz Luhrmann told her she had won the role of Daisy Buchanan in The Great Gatsby.

Mulligan told Digital Spy that Luhrmann called her at a New York event for Karl Lagerfeld and greeted her by saying "hello Daisy".

The Oscar-nominated British actress explained that being cast in The Great Gatsby more than a year ago allowed her plenty of time to research the life of author F Scott Fitzgerald and his wife Zelda Fitzgerald.

"It's been really good because I got the job last November so I had a year before we started shooting," she said.

"I had so much time to read about Fitzgerald and Zelda. It felt like by the time we got filming we'd all prepared as much as we could."

Yes, it was the October cover 2010 for US Vogue. It also covered Germany Glamour's December 2010 cover, but at least that makes sense because they're both Conde Nast. ELLE are their rivals!


I think that it reflects very poorly on ELLE because while she's wearing couture, it's over a year since it was first published. There is really nothing very current about the outfit which in a fashion magazine is kind of the point.

why would anyone pose for a cover with a bra?it's either nakes (posed in a way as not to show the parts that are not supposed to be seen ) or dressed....but posing with a bra reminds me of a Victoria'S Secret catalogue or a mail order catalogue and their underwear section...

I was thinking the same thing.

jomarlushka I think her wearing underwear is supposed to reflect the risqué nature of the film the photo-shoot is meant to promote- Shame.

^yeah that's what I assumed but I still prefer pics à la naked-over-the-shoulders-looks ; naked with a blanked...naked with a shirt half stripped down (yeah, yeah all those stereotypical half-naked pics but still...) ...that register rather than posing with a balconette bra that looks like the ones you get at H&M
