I might be in the minority here, and I hate to be mean-girling another woman, but I’m tired of this air of fake gravitas she puts forth in every single picture she poses for. She always looks like she’s either no fun to have around or thinks too highly of herself. Maybe she’s just shy, but her demeanour just screams “unlikeable” to me. :/

I don't think she comes across as unlikable at all, but I see where you're coming from - she does look uncomfortable, or sometimes even annoyed, when she's on the red carpet. I think she just doesn't feel completely at ease with it, which is understandable, it must be bizarre to suddenly be faced with a wall of cameras flashing in front of you. She seemed more relaxed about it before the garnered so much attention for An Education - I don't recall her looking so stiff before the whole Oscar furore.

Carey Mulligan typically brings a romantic, old world sensibility to the red carpet—think, ethereal evening dresses by Chanel and Erdem frocks. So you’ll be surprised to hear that her latest look hinges on a rock and roll classic: the leather pant.

The British actress—who incidentally is married to rocker Marcus Mumford—made an appearance at a SAG-AFTRA event in New York yesterday to promote her new movie, Wildlife. For the occasion, she wore a pair of high-waisted leather pants and floral silk chiffon blouse, an unlikely pairing. (Both pieces are from Riccardo Tisci's debut collection for Burberry).

The trouser’s built-in cummerbund made for a figure-flattering line which was amplified thanks to Mulligan’s neutral peep-toe heels; hardly your typical rocker wife’s uniform.
