Yes, Ashley is definitely going through a half-minimalist half-grunge phase a la the 90's and I can see the CBK influences. They're actually 2 of my favourite style icons, those two and Kate Moss are my personal favourites

I would have to agree...I read Michael Bergin's book about her, and it seems she had an irresistible sexiness (that made men crazy!) and style, but I never thought it was pure physical beauty...But she was very stylish and had great presence; I think like Jackie she will be studied for years to come...

Point of reference regarding height - the photo of Carolyn and Kate Moss together -

Kate Moss is 5'7" - photos of her with other models - where one can see the full view - she is at least 2" shorter.

Photos of Carolyn standing next to John - she is very close to his height - even in 'flats' - she stood close to 6'.

I agree with Adri028456 - The photo of Carolyn and Kate does not provide an accurate understanding of their heights. We would need to see their feet!

She's certainly not a conventional beauty. She was very striking. I think she and JFK Jr were a perfect match - looks-wise. He was already so conventionally attractive that him having a conventionally attractive wife would make the pair look rather...boringly attractive.

I love the pic with Jen Aniston, she was so much cooler in the 90's--even her film roles were better.

Anyway I agree that The Row and Ashley seem to be influenced by Carolyn and the minimalism moment fifteen years ago. I, for one, am glad to see it coming back on the right people. Ashley seems to be devoted to the look...for now.

I think what made Carolyn iconic, beautiful, etc, was the total package. Was she model beautiful? No, but if you put her among a group of Victoria Secret models in their clothes she would still stand out. She had it all, or at least appeared to, and that is why she stood apart.

Let me try to rephrase. JFK Jr. was already so conventionally handsome that if he got a similarly conventionally beautiful wife, it would be similar to gilding the lily and such a couple would look very Stepford-ish.

Personally, I think CBK's rather harsh, striking looks perfectly complements her husband's more classic good looks.

The pictures of CBK with Kate and Jennifer were originally scanned by me. For those interested they're from this book, who is amazing if you're a fan of John.

As for CBK's beauty, I think she's one of those women you had to see in person to truly 'get it'. I have read pretty much all the book friends of JFK Jr. wrote and they all rave about how mesmerizing and beautiful she was.
She just had this charisma and special glow. I think this quote about Scarlett O'Hara might apply here:

"Scarlett O'Hara was not beautiful, but men seldom realized it when caught by her charm as the Tarleton twins were".

Personally I find her stunning just based on pictures, but I understand why many people are underwhelmed by her looks.
