Well actually the new large comes in both the shorter size and the taller version (that is the same size as the older version)- did you see the bag at Neiman or at the Chanel boutique? If at Neiman, you might have not seen the taller version, as I think only the Chanel boutique carries it.

Yes! The new large might be the same length/width but it is definitely shorter than the old one. I saw the one JA is pictured carrying a few pages back .

I saw the bag at Neiman's. I'll tell ya what, you definitely need more than a degree to figure out chanel's bags . I would never leave anything to chance with them. Different SA's will tell you different things, within the same boutique and forget asking around at other boutiques. They'll mess your mind up something terrible . I won't buy anything from them until I see it in person first!

I really think the SAs don't know what they're talking about. I recently looked through the huge Chanel catalog at Neiman;s and the new cerf (called the city tote, I think) is listed as being made out of deerskin. I would trust the book over the SAs, IMO.

I trust you . If that's the one JA is pictured with, that's the one I like . Chanel needs to name their freaking bags .

My mom's friend wants to sell her Chanel Cerf (beige color, deeskin) that she bought a couple of years ago (she thinks). I am seriously considering buying it, but she doesn't know how much she wants for it...she can't even remember what she paid for it! What would be a safe price for me to offer her??? I think she spent around US$1650.00 on it... it's in pretty good condition.

Kare, have a little feel around the inside corners and stuff. If you got a authenticity card with the bag you must have the serial sticker..otherwise whats the point of it right?

I couldnt find my serial inside my reissue because it was hidden so well until I felt it tucked away in the corner.

I hope everyone is enjoying their cerfs! I just bought two new Chanels and have not used my cerf in a while, so I guess I need to try and use it more. However, I really do see myself selling it in a year or so, because I'm not using it as much as I hoped to. It gets too heavy sometimes, but nonetheless it is beautiful and I get lots of compliments (classy, timeless, etc.). What's a girl to do.

when I visited the chanel store in SOHO, the SA said that lambskin in particular is extremely nice because if you spill something on it, it comes off easily. FOr example, if you are considering a white cerf tote, get it in lambskin because it washes off with ease! hope that helps!

I wasn't aware that the cerf comes in different leathers, like the 2.55. and the SA who said that stains can be washed easily off lambskin is on drugs -- I think lambskin is the most delicate of leathers, especially in light colors.
